After seeing some beautifully clean and polished cars at the KS meet last weekend, I thought it was time to give ours a decent scrub:
After a year of the 'sponge and hose' method, I finally 'invested' in some cleaning products so hopefully the paint finish will only get better from here on!
I can only imagine what a decent detail could do for the paint... One day!

Over the last 2 weeks, the diff had started to develop the dreaded clunk which was driving me nuts
Fortunately, 30 minutes of tinkering and 40ml of RedLine friction modifier later she's behaving correctly again
The diff still seems to lock as normal, so hopefully I won't have to add anymore FM and she'll stay nice and quiet now...

After narrowly avoiding the wooden spoon at TR, I thought it was time to add the 2 hole mod to my intake.
After several days of research and preperation and about 2 hours of careful cutting & drilling, my airbox is now linked to the MCAI by 2x 90mm pipes
I'm not expecting big gains but if it releases a little more induction noise and improves throttle response, I'll be very happy. I'll update once I've driven the car...!

I followed this guide: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/holden-commodo...
I bought some black 90mm pipe from b&q's drainage section.
Take your time when smoothing the holes (so you get a nice tight fit on the new 90mm pipe) but otherwise it's an easy job and doesn't need any special tools. Took me around 2 or 3 hours.

Think all Monaros have this fitted. Reason it's mentioned in the guide is because the mod was done on a Commodore.
Not sure about that - I've just been looking online at the standard airbox design for the '04 cars (http://www.monkfishperformance.co.uk/monaro-air-box-complete-inc-air-filter_p31017803.htm) and they appear to have the restrictive 90 degree elbow...If your car still has this setup (easy to check by simply removing the radiator cover), then a MCAI and 2 hole mod should make quite a difference to throttle response and induction noise.
It might be placebo effect, but I would swear that the exhaust note is a little louder too. I've covered a few miles now and I'm very happy with the mod
A quick update after her first long distance roadtrip to Scotland - she performed flawlessly and the Monaro always impresses me with it's comfort... and pace when required.
Here's a snap from underneath the Forth bridge:
And an obligatory hoon through the Peaks on the way home:
She's only done about 5k miles this year but will probably do an oil change regardless as it's almost 12 months since the last one.

Scotland a few weeks ago, Dorset last weekend:
The car continues to put a big smile on my face and performed faultlessly on the way to Portland and back with some great roads down that way.
I'll be heading out for another early morning run on first Sunday in November (with a few 911's) so feel free to PM me for details if anyone fancies a run?
Thereafter she might have to be put away for the winter months... Not 100% sure about that though!
