Congrats - it's hard work with the slow seats, but the recaro young sport fits well in the back of a monaro (once they are into front-facing seats). I got my monaro shortly after my son was born, seemed like the logical thing to do hehe

The time has come.... after 18 months of tinkering, road trips and the birth of my baby boy I'll be listing the Monaro in the classifieds frown

The good news is that I am not leaving the fold, I'll be back soon, but this time with more doors biggrin

I can't believe the lengths you're going to to avoid an 04 CV8 thunder road rematch Jan wink

Good luck with the sale though! Any thoughts on a preferred VXR8 spec?

Haha, I'm never one to take the easy option!

I've agreed a deal on an almost stock (Walky exhaust) auto VXR8.... I think it's going to suit my road tripping and baby shuttling duties better smile

I'll report back once I've collected!

Happy to take feedback on my listing and asking price... hopefully I've pitched it about right.

Well done. Personally I thought you should have gone a touch higher and let them haggle you down, until i saw that Mk2 CV8 on there for pennies. That must be a desperate sale for them. Prices seem to be all over the place at the moment, with CV8's and VXR's getting a huge disparity between them, you think is there really £6k difference between these cars??

Thanks mate, I wanted to put it up at a sensible and realistic price, given the modifications and condition I'm hoping to get something close to asking...

I agree that prices are all over the place, the cheap ones get snapped up and the expensive ones hang around forever. Mine doesn't have any issues so hopefully represents a decent entry point for someone wanting a V8.

Indeed - looking forward to seeing the VXR8 at the next meet! How's the small doing? Enjoyable first Xmas?

A quick update as a couple of months have passed and I'm very happy to say that the CV8 is still on my driveway biggrin

The purchase of a VXR8 fell through and I wouldn't accept any silly offers, so the decision to keep was an easy one.

I fitted a Maxi-cosi Easyfix 2 for the baby (instead of a makeshift seatbelt extender) and although it's a pain getting the seat into the back, it's only used at the weekends so we can put up with it easily enough.

Had a great run down to Winchester last weekend and I really struggle to think what could replace the trusty old steed... perhaps one day when I'm feeling flush I'll bite the bullet and get a cam to finish off the modifications....

I'm on my second Monaro and now have two sprogs. I've struggled with what to change it for other than a VXR8 but I can't justify spending another 4-5k for a car that's only a year newer with 2 extra doors.

Have you tried a VXR8?
It may only be a year on the reg but it is a whole generation in terms of platform architecture

I've tried a few in various states of tune and the ones that were near stock felt way too refined and tame for my liking. Great as a daily, but mine's a weekend car so I want a bit of drama, the refinement from the modern platform takes a little away.

If I could justify a cam'd LS3.... then that's another story but then we're comparing a 10k car to a 20k car!

Just my 2c smile

Yeah I've driven an 09 LS3. The biggest difference for me was the gearbox which was a million times better than my Monaro. I imagine an LS2 VXR8 will still feel better to mine but beyond that I didn't think it was worth the extra money to change. Don't get me wrong I probably will at some point as the kids get bigger 5 doors will be easier.

After toing and froing between getting a cam for the CV8 or trading up to a VXR8, I've decided to go for a cam........ fitted to a VXR8 smokin

It's been a great 2 years with the Monaro, but the little man means that 4 doors are going to be wayyy more practical for family duties.

A well loved black CV8 goes into Elite's stock tomorrow morning and brings this thread to an end but I'll soon be starting a new thread for the R8 biggrin
