Well was time for my oil & filter change today, so I thought let's do the clutch fluid as well.
Was a bit apprehensive after reading all the posts saying how difficult it was................
Anyway once I had located the bleed nipple went in with a 1/4 drive ratchet and a piece of hose........... And I would say it's pretty much a piece of p***s I used an old washing machine feed hose, bit fiddly but fits the nipple really well and avoids fluid spraying all over the place.
I was amazed how much crap came out loads of black particles, I guess it's just clutch dust that's clumped together.
Here's some pics of what came out + plus the hose I used.
Brake fluid change next, but will wait till I get my braided hoses.
Btw clutch feels lighter and peviously was a little crunchy selecting 3rd when cold. But not any morethumbup

This was my resevoir when I first checked it, have been syringing and topping up since then, things are improving, but I think I need to bleed through properly.

You definitely need to bleed through cos the clutch dust/ contamination is coming up from the slave.
Is that std fluid or racing blue?
Looks very black, mine had blue in already but was very dark compared to new stuff.

My mech over at Holden Racing Team told me that the black stuff in the clutch fluid isn't actually clutch dust, but is small amounts of black grease used in the clutch assembly somewhere.

There is a video on the net about it all, corvette owners have same problems and contaminated oil was tested and it was found to be clutch dust.

In the old days there were mainly 2 makes of brake fluid (Lockheed & Castrol Girling), one was red and the other yellow, changing fluid was easy just by using alternative makes and bleeding the system until the new colour came through. www.rangeracceleration.com has some good info on Corvette clutches and there are several places explaining why Silicone Fluid isn't the answer. It would appear the thing to do is change your fluid on an annual basis.

Seeing as I'm quite sure my spigot bearing is toast, I will be getting a LS7 clutch and remote bleeder when I get the spigot fixed.
