I only changed the forum name as I forgot my login and password for the email address associated with the account.

The Monaro is a wonderful car in so many ways as you all know. I have taken such good care of the car, only having it serviced and worked on by Monkfish in the main, as I thought it would be a keeper and the thought of selling it just give me a dreadful feeling in my stomach. But is has only been driven to ‘maintain it’ over the last year or so and it seems a shame to hide it away in a garage thinking of it is as investment. The damn thing seems to have a personality and it deserves more.

The fact is that my Ferrari is getting older and as it does so it is getting increasingly more ‘high maintenance’. Old 12 cylinder Ferraris are just a whole different world of financial pain.

Something needs to give.

James @ Elite, I’ll give you a call next week.

Cracking Tom. Glad it still keeps you smiling. What have you done to the old girl? Any recent pics?
Think most recent pics were power tour, also a recent video I uploaded from a charity rolling road day last Sunday (For Manchester dogs home). Upgrade wise, poly bushed, AP brakes are on order. Been fitted with a rip shifter and exhaust has been swapped out. Also got a set of linelocks I put in just before power tour. Got a shed filling up with parts that are coming off it at moment. Also put a private plate on a while ago.

I've been wondering if the new mustang will maybe encourage people that they want a rear wheel drive v8 coupe with a manual gearbox. New mustang could push up demand. Maybe.

Yes interesting observation. Oil prices relatively low to so if they remain so in the spring the Mustang might rekindle interest in the only other Muscle car ever sold in RHD in Great Britain.

Love the last pic. What exhaust did you go for?

Just went with a custom one, so basically got two straight through 12x4" mufflers mounted in the middle of the car. No back box at all. Bit of a different tone to most, not nearly as loud as you would think being such tiny silencers. It's pretty civilised day to day.

Have got pacemaker 1 7/8 to 3.5" longtubes coming that I am in the group buy for. So will have to see how that changes the tone of the system.

I have been very disheartened with how little my CV8 seems to be worth. Thank to James at Elite by the way. It was great to meet you and I appreciate the time you spent with me.

It seems people will pay a premium for a VXR badge, which has nothing to do with Holden in anyway, and a body kit, which to my mind actually detracts from the original design.

I took the Monaro to work today and it was fantastic. Very close to the sense of occasion I get when driving my Ferrari to be honest so I have decided to hang on to the car indefinitely.

I pulled out of BP earlier having given it a drink of the finest fuel and it gave me a little pop and a bang. This car is a keeper and it seems to know it. I love this car!!

I considered making an offer, but really don't need two CV8's!

Bring it to TR next year if you can? It'll run well with your cam and airflow improvements.

The car got loads of attention under the lights at the BP station. I looked back at the car while waiting to pay and I thought ‘God that car looks good!’

I have not driven the Monaro for some time and I had forgotten how much attention it gets.

Not from office drones in their Audis and BMWs who mostly wouldn’t know a Holden from a Hoover, (yes I am waiting on delivery of my S3 but I am different!) but from petrol heads in commercial vehicles who always know their cars being on the road professionally.

Loads of windows down and it would be rude not to let the V8 breathe in an appropriate manner!

Really glad you've got the love back. cool

As for the VXR badge value, I think that's more to do with the HSV DNA. wink

It had been so long since I had driven the Monaro it had become a figure on a balance sheet and I’d forgotten about the emotion of the car. Driving it again reignited my love for the car.

It also compliments the Ferrari so well as it is so much more usable on a day-to-day basis while giving similar and if I am totally honest superior performance, so when the weather is bad or I need to be ‘less flash’ the Monaro is perfect.

The Ferrari is great but attracts sooo much attention and this is not always wanted. The Monaro strikes an optimum balance.

I like to give it a blip of the loud pedal when you see car windows on the inside lane drop a few inches as you approach to pass. It would be rude not too smile
