I have come to the conclusion I need to sell my Monaro. I have adored it over the last 7 years of ownership and it has wanted for nothing. But I can no longer justify holding on to it when it gets so little use and I know from recent experience that cars need to be used and not sat in the garage for extended periods.

Would I be better to wait until the spring to get a better price or sell it now?

I think that prices are still fairly strong at the moment. Who knows what will happen in the spring? Oil prices may rocket, and petrol prices would then drive prices down.

I would advertise now, until the start of January, and if nothing happens, take the advert down for a month, and then put a new one up, with new pictures and wording. smile

I think the answer is never. The better solution is to find time to drive it....

I have been at this point with the Monaro before. I then take it out for a drive and it gets under my skin again!

It is quite ridiculous but I do actually worry about what will happen to it if I do sell.

Incidentally what is the best email address to contact efilive?

In that case, don't sell it. You'll regret it for a very long time.

I have ordered a new Audi S3 as a daily to replace my Jeep. The Ferrari and Monaro are weekend toys. To be honest I dislike saying that as it sounds so crass but it is the way it is for me.

To finance the remainder of the Audi after part exchanging the Jeep, I either sell some share holdings or the Monaro. Basically if I hold on to the Monaro, from a pure financial point of view I am saying the money is ‘safer’ in the Monaro than a company in the FTSE-100.

My Ferrari has out performed all my share holdings by miles. If the Monaro could be equated to a ‘hold’ or a ‘buy’ maybe I should hang on to it?

Realistically are these cars likely to become collectable or atleast hold their money?

Yeah they havnt lost price. Almost got a VXR 6L in 2009 for £8k they are more than that these days generally.
Prices are pretty flat at present. So Id say most depreciation has already happened. Quite how much they will grow over time remains to be seen.

More so if its stock still.

OP keep the Monaro, I can't ever see them dropping lower that they are now. Besides the Monaro has future classic written all over it given that both BMW and MB have gone FI with their V8's.

Give it another seven years and I'm sure you'll be pleased you did smile.

Nobody ever bought or decided to keep a V8 with their "sensible" hat on, our cars are about getting under your skin and worming their way into your affections.

You'd be insane to part with yours for an Audi (even a hot one).

Formerly known as Nosubstitute on here biggrin ? Would be an amazing coincidence if two cv8 owners had a Testarossa.

That's a nice car - if it's the one I believe it is.
