The biggest issue is that regular street tyres always destroys the track prep, thus screwing up the 60 ft times for people with drag inspired tyres. Too many people think that lighting up the rears off the line means you're obviously one of the Fast & the Furious.......laugh

DOT rated, passed the MOT with them, driven on by Street Eliminator cars on their cruises, satisfying rules about being street legal. I think the E rating question is a bit of a grey area, key issue being supply rather than use. The key point is a tyre must be fit for purpose.

I'm guessing that there are several other sub-2 second sixty foot cars that ran on drag radials or equivalents? Very few European tyres are up to running less than 2-seconds on the sixty foot times.
So are MTs illegal then? They are sold in the UK and I haven't seen anywhere where it says "illegal for road use". Either way, I run them all the time even in the rain just gotta be careful. On the strip, running a street tire with that much power is just asking for trouble. I also passed MOT and never got any trouble from the cops about my tires.
