the day when someone from haymarket or the forum inner circles (not you Richie) relies on an air ambulance I hope they remember the value of these events

I work for the Wiltshire air ambulance volunteering
I'm not posting to cause a row so I'll get that out of the way straight away thumbup

Our rules clearly state that charity event promotion is not allowed, this has always been the case and includes the HSV & Monaro section on the forum, you have all freely agreed to this rule so please don't complain about it.

The reason for the rule is that we are inundated with daily requests for charity threads, if we allowed them all then the forums would be full of charity threads so where do we draw the line? It's got nothing to do with whether we agree with a charity or disputing how worthwhile they are, just a blanket rule no matter what the cause, I have had to refuse permission for charities' close to my heart as have all the other moderators, there is absolutely no ulterior motive and it's got nothing to do with being owned by Haymarket or "the forum inner circles" referred to above.

Also not posting to cause a row, or indeed questioning a moderator (which is also against the rules). whistle

Maybe Haymarket should look at the rules and look to treat those of us that are adults as such. Facebook allows charity event promotion, and if you don't want to read those specific threads, you don't. There's a lot less moderation on there too, which may be worth looking at. Threads on here that have admittedly been heated, have been spoilt by being locked or posts/members deleted, which leaves the argument festering below the surface, rather than being dealt with.
I understand that he who pays the piper plays the tune, but after the last wielding of the ban hammer we have lost another valuable technical expert (not that we all agreed with him) as he can't be bothered with the politics of this place any more. The exodus continues, yet Haymarket can't understand why.

People also flog stuff on Facebook - just sayin' wink

X2 with Mark.

Also, if the rule exists then why are we on page 3 here before something is said?

(I'm glad I'm not a mod!) wink

Because despite people knowing charity promotion isn't allowed but us allowing this event to be promoted, eyebrows are raised because we don't allow all events to be promoted.

If we were as bad as we're being made out to be then this thread would have been deleted, the fact it's still here shows we're reasonable despite people thinking the opposite.

Sorry to shatter the illusion, feel free to keep saying how evil we are though hehe

That made me spit my coffee out rofl

Just to clarify for everybody: Jamie started a "charity" thread and cross posted it in several PH forums. This breach of the rules resulted in him being sin-binned and the threads removed. Some of us spent a considerable amount of time getting Jamie released from the sin-bin and finding a way that he could be supported. Nathan kindly suggested that somebody could start a "mini-meet" thread for those of us who are attending the event. That's what this thread is, it is not a charity thread per se and was not started by Jamie or anyone else for that purpose.

PH has been criticised heavily on this forum for allowing posts on other forums that would not have been allowed here. Now that the consistency has turned full circle and is being applied here there should be little grounds for complaint.

Or should we continue with the situation where 50% of people think that an exception should be made and then the other 50% complain about inconsistency when it is?

The wife and I will drive down around lunchtime... will everyone still be there?

Will we have a Monaro / HSV area?

I think we'll all still be there well into the afternoon. I'm not sure how the parking will be arranged so we'll have to see on the day. I know there are efforts to have parking "sections" for different marques.

See you on Sunday thumbup
