Just had to buy one for mine, it's two pulleys instead of one and should be fitting this weekend, belt kept slipping off by itself, got mine from MF for around £80

Thanks Gary, is this a common issue? Typical in any particular model or engine?

The car is a vxr8 ls2 in this case, seems to be a holden/hsv cock up

All VXR8's. Aggresive gear changes or bumping into the rev limiter can cause the A/C belt to hop off. Mod converts it back to a similiar set up to Monaro with twin pullies.

It is a fairly cheap mod considering what you get for the money, worth doing, MF done mine never been a problem since.

It just affects the E1 VXR8's. The E3 VXR8 GTS already has the extra pully fitted from factory. Don't know if it affects the Gen-F or not

Do you need a bigger belt when fitting the extra pulley?

I need to get one for my car. It popped off the belt 2 weeks ago. I re fitted it and carried on. It threw it off again this week, but this time it munched the belt between pulley and timing cover. It even loosened the connection on the cam sensor, which caused a misfire!
Currently running without any aircon belt.

I got mine off ebay au , from memory it was about total 240£ inc taxes and delivery, his site name is Fairsparesgm , i emailed him he does ship to the uk and just did a price including shipping for me , it took about 2 weeks , i so wished i ordered one the first time the belt jumped as it was a lot of cost 500£ or so including his part plus hassle as my front oil seal was damaged the second time it jumped

The aircon mod also comes with a new belt the correct size , it’s a bit of a fiddle to fit but can be done with compressor still in situ but moved to one side
