Just noticed a VXR8 in the classifieds for a shade over £11000.000 private.

Good mileage, History etc, looks to me a very good price, for what looks like a clean car, don`t think that will hang around for long!!!!!!!!!!!

That will be the bargain of the century that will cost you dear.

It's too cheap
No phone no.
Wants you to Email direct not through PH
Email name is not same as sellers name
Probably wants deposit upfront or meet in car park at night with cash.
Sounds like a cut and paste scam gumtree advert

Probable scam.

You can tell because of the e-mail address in the advert being the only way to contact the seller

You mention Western Union biggrin I have a bike on PH's for sale and had this come through LOL

Thanks for your swift response,Your best price is OK by me (£3800), Please kindly remove the advert and consider its been sold to me,Ignore other buyers from this consent,I will compensate you an extra £30 for that because i cant afford to let it go and for you to hold it for me.So kindly provide me this below details accordingly for your payment to be made out from my partner first thing in the morning.

(1)Full Name On Cheque:
(2)Home Address:
(3)City:
(4)State:
(5)Post code:
Telephone number/mobile phone:

You should be expecting a cheque or Banker's Draft of £6500 which include the shipping fee to cover the shipping expenses on me because i still have other goods they will be picking up for me around your location including yours so the money is not made for your goods only part of it is for their workmanship.Just assure me that my excess fund is in a safe hand at your care,Perhaps my partner couldn't issue out a separate cheque's on a single transaction like this due to his company policy if not you would have a cheque of the equivalent amount which is your asking price,But due to the unforeseen circumstance made it happen this way. But i believe i can always count on you with my excess cash. As soon as the cheque clears in your bank deduct your cost of charges including the £30 i offer you, then kindly send the rest via western union to the manager of the shipping company that will help me with the pick-up.I hope I can trust you with the difference. You
can always email me. Once again don't forget to remove the advert from the website if my term of payment is accepted by you before we proceed further. Hope to read from you soon.

My Regard.

Unlucky dudes, you've missed out on this one! I've just received their cleared funds and sent the WU money on as requested...
They are shipping the car tomorrow via a transport company called Doneone & Scarper Transport.
I've seen pics of it and all looks good. Just waiting on an email now, confirming the delivery.... Can't wait!

I won a motorhome on eBay some time back. The 'owner' sent me lots of nice, but poorly worded automated emails asking me to send the money and he would arrange delivery. Avoided the repeated requests for a phone number and the fact that I insisted on collecting it in person.

A quick search of the internet found the same advert appearing several times on various sites over the years.

What's amazing is that these scams are so prevalent. They must do it because it works, which is very scarey.
