I see that Gary Lots Of Grip (now he has the superior chassis of a VXR8 hehe ) has his old 20" Ute wheels for sale on ebay.

I know they won't go over the calipers of the VXR8, but as the hubs and brakes on the Ute were the same as Monaros, maybe someone here is interested?

Surely the lower profile of the tyres will provide less give and make the ride harsher, plus bigger rims and contact patch will make the car seek out cambers etc with a bit more relish, possible extra weight might make the wheel thud more into depressions etc, but........they will look sooooo much better cloud9
Just my 2p worth, perhaps someone better qualified can add?

Reckon you've summed it up there.
Depends on existing factors though. If the yellow peril is nice and squidgy, it'll firm it up... if its hard and taught on polybushes...then it'll be even harder...
Lots of factors.

Either way though...

Looks cool wink

20's will not ride as well as 18 or 19's. Been there done that.

Looking at the offset of those wheels you may have clearance problems with yours on low, so try before you buy.

Don't want to p*ss on Garys party, but wouldn't want you to be disappointed either.

Nothing wrong with 20" wheels on the right car/suspension/set up !

20's on a Monaro on pedders set low, will be a tad harsh imo, but each to their own smile

Came off a Monaro, they do make the car a bit stiffer but when on ute it was much more planted, plus the tyres are stretched slightly so on the rears you should be able to have 305 tyres, these are heavy though too, but if you want to stand out....

There was plenty of clearance on the ute, wanted to fit them to the r8 to fill the arches a bit more, little difference in weight but would need spacers, if they don't sell might go down that route next year.

I just see 275s there.. I wasn't sure they'd even go on the rear of a Monaro without rolled arches.

Answers that question then. smile

I can understand the people saying about the bigger wheels giving a harsher ride - the fashion for bigger wheels has been a bugbear of mine for many years, but frankly at that price they would be worth buying just for the tyre life, then to sell the alloys on afterwards. Lots cheaper than buying a set of 19" tyres for current wheels. smile

Tyres are in good nick and falcons too, cant believe these might end as a no sale at £400 lol, could probably get half that back on the tyres alone!
