Anyone here believe in "Global warming" and feel guilty?

Although I must say that I have always been a climate change sceptic (basically because I don't subscribe to government propaganda), I've had pangs of conscience at times having three v8s in the stable, and then using an Eco flex oil burning Insignia in the week to save up my "carbon miles" for the weekends etc.

No more!

I've just read a book called "Watermelons" by a guy called James Delingpole and I can recommend it to any of you guilt ridden V8 addicts (like me).

The V8 DD (daily driver) will be arriving next March!

Just remember that we will keep burning fossil fuels until they run out (or the World ends). So if it's not you in your V8, it'll be five Prius drivers burning that petrol. Being efficient just means it takes a tiny bit longer (in geological terms) for the same amount of carbon dioxide to be released into the atmosphere.

Maybe the book will make it onto my Crimbo list

According to the high priests of the IPCC (Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change), there's been no warming at all for the last 19 years, and no sign of any for the foreseeable future. And there's still no visible man-made signal with causality in any temperature data ever recorded, yet we're still taxed about our daily lives on everything to do with plant food, CO2.

The planet heats and cools and has done since it's had an atmosphere, and will continue to do so, with or without Mankind.

Genuine question; At what temperature in history was the Earth at an ideal level, and what level of CO2 'should' we have in the atmosphere?

Plenty to worry about with Global Cooing though

Shipping and air travel belch out more CO2 than V8's

No guilt here, and if anyone ever questions me I just point to the 3.2KVA photovoltaic solar panel array I have affixed to the roof of my house and swear down that this makes me carbon neutral!! (which is doesn't of course, by a long way, but it doesn't stop me arguing the point until they give up nagging!)

No guilt here either, and mine's a daily driver. The thing is, driving a diesel isn't as green as Bluemotion/Econonse/etc makes it seem as diesels put out other pollutants that are as bad as if not worse than petrol.

Oh and does any smug Prius driver know how much carbon is used to make the batteries for that stupid car?

Oh and don't get me started on those who buy electric cars (Renault Zoe et al) thinking that they are getting "free" fuel

France is going to ban diesels from its cities soon and increase diesel taxes as the No. emissions is worse than the saving on Co2

I have one of those 1.0 ecoboost fiestas for a daily driver. Its jolly enough for throwing round in city traffic. I used to drive the V8 but in the end I swapped more because I didn't see the point in paying £40 a week in fuel to sit in traffic jams when the Fiesta can do it for a fraction of that. I also found that driving to work every day in the traffic was cramping my enjoyment of the car, now I save it for when I can give it a proper drive and really enjoy it. There are apparently only so many times you can emerge from a turning into a traffic jam in a cacophony of tyre squeal and exhaust noise before promptly lifting off for the 20mph speed limit starts to wear thin.
