I had a a Walkinshaw sports exhaust fitted at the end of August (thanks Rich24 :-) )

I find that there is a bad drone from 1600 rpm to 1950 rpm which corresponds to 50 mph to 70 mph on a Motorway for example, or in urban traffic. The auto-box tending to hold the revs around this range unless driving hard; in traffic most of the driving is light throttle

I use my VXR8 for a daily 90+ mile commute so spend much of that at light load so get a lot of this drone! It is reducing my pleasure of the car and V8 soundtrack.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Steve

has the centre box been removed and a x or h pipe fitted ?

I have straight through pipe on my bi modal with zero drone, although I know of two who have x pipes and it drones badly.

The answer is simple. Stop being such a puss and put your foot down a bit more wink

(If its any consolation, my manual with a walky cat-back drones horribly at 70 too).

I've got the Walks Supercar system along with headers and cats, the centre silencer has been replaced with an X-pipe, the drone around 1900rpm is shocking, again about 70mph it's almost unbearable. However I just drive though it, around 75mph is perfect.

Mine is pretty much the same, but being about 200 miles from the nearest motorway not really an issue.

I have an auto vxr8 with Walkinshaw cat backs too and yes it drones like hell at precisely 70 mph. As already said though, over 75 and it's gone.

I often wonder why it is almost precisely set to drone at 70??!! Unfortunate coincidence with uk speed limits maybe.
