Again, you need to seek proper legal advice. If they are claiming specific dB readings, this can help the case as there will be many many flaws in how they have acquired their reading...from taking the reading to equipment used of which none are approved, as well as proper training and calibration of the equipment.

On the other hand....once you mention Powerflow, it all goes downhill from there lol

I'm a bit concerned Plymouth has come up twice in this thread already! I've also had friends who have had issues regarding loud exhausts in the Plymouth area.

So far I have been lucky and don't seem to get a second look from the police although they haven't been traffic police.

I bought a V8 as I wanted bags of low down torque so I don't need to rev it and can enjoy chugging around at low revs in a high gear listening to the lovely V8 burble. For them to make me rev it at 4000rpm would make my piss boil as I very rarely go over 2000rpm in town as I respect built up areas and not everyone appreciates a nice exhaust note.

My car came with the optional extra Wortec exhaust which I also have the receipt for from Greens Vauxhall so would be interested if that would be useful if I did get pulled? My question would be why did Vauxhall fit an apparently illegal exhaust to the car.

As its only a matter of time before I get pulled I want to have some ammo without getting funny with the police as that never helps!

ok the kid got the exhaust manufacturer wrong, and thankfully it's onlt the tailpipe that's not standard ... anyway it's a Proflow smile Her dad is going to bung a baffler up the pipe to see if that helps reduce the db's, and if so that will do, if not, well we will have to cross that bridge if and when we come to it wink

TBH if the cops are giving you/her/whoever grief on that particular car, the easiest and cheapest thing to do would be stick a standard exhaust on it, even if only for a while.

That way at least if they do hassle you....you can stick two fingers up and lodge proper complaints against them

Stevie why do you think the police need two fingers stuck up at them for doing their job? Nothing sounds as bad as a revved up 4 pot 1.2ltr car

Depends what their job is supposed to be ?

And plenty sounds worse....most Hondas with stupid exhausts.

To me their job is to protect, to catch criminals causing damage and harm in society.

Finding car owners parked in a car park, insisting they start their engines and rev them so they actually do make noise....no, I really dont see that as a priority for any cop. Unless that same car has actually been witnessed causing distress to someone because of whatever noise it can make

Really..if that's the most important thing a cop can find to do on their shift, clearly there is no need for them at al.. Apparently these are imes of austerity, cutbacks are needed....well they've just advertised loud and clear ( well above 100dB ) where those cuts can be made without impacting normal peoples lives.

the rpm clock may show 8k but there is no way it revs that high
Rev to 7200rpm on standard map, remapped it's usually 7500rpm.

C2 VTS are quite capable little cars for what they are. Fun little things too.

Saw a modded Civic R with the following sticker just above its rather large and (pleasantly) noisey exhaust:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291032857613?_trksid=p20...

Guessing that such things have contributed to the response we're seeing from the 'law-makers'. Shame that such an ill-thought out piece of legislation is diverting the BIB from more worthy forms of policing. Knowing a few traffic coppers, they would rather be out doing a proper job too.

On a more positive note: The more traffic coppers you see using microphones, the fewer you see with speed cameras. Not that I'm advocating anything...

That's why most camera vans are operated by civilians, or of course the fully automated revenue generator cameras.

The motorists are treated as criminals, they have money extorted from them left, right and centre...and all for causing no harm or damage to anyone.

Now when someone, or even a motorist does cause harm and damage and you call the police....they do sweet fk all.

Stigmundfreud, she is my daughter, I'm her mum lol. The c2 is going to have a resonator put into the exhaust tomorrow, at a cost of £80 so not too bad. We just need to find somewhere to get the db's checked then 😊

MOT stations won't be able to, as it's not part of their equipment. Maybe have a word with the police?

If you ask around, many music venues and theatres and even some bands have them.

Your friendly neighbourhood race circuit will almost definitely have one.

They arent overly expensive to buy....but if the cops are being arsey...which it sounds like.

Just spend the £80 on a new standard exhaust. Then without question you can stick two fingers up to the cops if they harass you.
