agree a nice v8 growl is nice but unfortunately the spacktards in their shopping trolley golfs with open exhausts have ruined it for everyone.

You wouldnt have a leg to stand on.

I would imagine that the argument goes something like "its not the OEM exhaust, therefore it is altered". The fact is that you have not just altered a part of the OEM one, you have altered the whole thing by replacing it with something non-OEM.

No defence, if you want to comply then you have to make your aftermarket exhaust emit the same dB or less than OEM - which can be achieved if you try hard enough!
Glad I don't live in the UK anymore.

(My old S2000 was 113 db @ 4000 rpm. No boost and off cam, it got a lot louder at 9200rpm)

But why?

How much additional BHP did you release by making such a racket?

4 pots make a terribly boring noise - unless they are BDA powered escort MK1's and 2's .

So by my reckoning that made paltry 8% power gain, and you shed a tiny 1.5% of the total weight.

Standard car 189.6 BHP/tonne

And you managed 208.9 BHP/Tonne

So less than 20 BHP/Tonne difference...

No, sorry, still dont think its worth annoying all your neighbours and other car users for the performance increase.

Shirley a remap of the ECU would have given you more than an 8% increase even with a standard exhaust???

Was actually less than that as a %age. Was 315whp and then dropped to ~290whp.

Then with a bit of weight loss all over, the car was just under 1200kg (with a 4 point cage, and all the engine mods).

I am just waiting for some loud plates to swap in the Wortec on my Monaro. Will I potentially fall foul of plod then?

Also how much louder is the Wortec on loud with standard cats an headers? I set off for work at 06:15 and don't want to have the neighbours complaining to council/rozzers frown

Not always the case though. I don't think the houses behind you were so keen with all the rev'ing, before leaving for an event, a couple of years ago. Sam's fault. wink

Coming back from 1st thunder road or some event, Sam drove slowly along side (didn't notice him) my window was down and he then floored it, I then had a 5p 10p 5p moment.
