WTF?!?! Cloned plate!
Discussion
As above really.
I was going through Central London this morning. I was in traffic on A501 just before Euston Station, and to my eyes there was a black old shape Toyota Prius going in the opposite direction. I thought nothing of it, until its plate looked resemblant to mine. I looked again. That was my plate!!!
Cut the long story short, someone has cloned my plates, and is now using whilst up to no good...
Of course, I reported crime...

I knew this was the first conclusion someone would come up with... Well, my other car is a V8! And seriously, someone has really cloned my plate. Not chuffed. Can't wait to start receiving unpaid CC fines and other tickets.
on the Plus side is if it was indeed a Prius, you wont be getting any CC charges as hybrids are free.Well, Prius is no longer C/C exempt as the threshold has been lowered about 2 - 3 years ago to, I think 70 or 80 CO2 That was an old shape with 104, even the later model had as much as 92CO2. Don't ask me how I know this
Kmud, someone has clearly thought they would be clever and under the radar. Let's face it, who would use a Prius as a crime tool? Well, unless you have watched "The other guys"

Correct.
On the other hand, in a thousand cars driven past me this morning I managed to spot the very one with my plates on. I mean, that is a coincidence right?
So just imagine how many others there might be out there ?On the other hand, in a thousand cars driven past me this morning I managed to spot the very one with my plates on. I mean, that is a coincidence right?
What's your plate so we can all keep an eye out for it
Hopefully the police are treating it as it needs to be treated....( which I doubt unless the prius has a loud exhaust )
But really...it baffles me why people do this...at least use a plate from a similar car or better still speed camera vans.
The more they become reliant on ANPR, the more this sort of crime will rise. Odd...when they're now aiming to be totally reliant on ANPR cameras...or nabbing cars with loud exhausts

It could also be an error. I've known of cars to have incorrect reg plates on from new and it not be noticed for a while.
This is very true. Many moons ago i had a company car (my one and only in fact) that was supposed to be J838 and was delivered from the dealer - brand new - as J833. Was a shame really because whoever etched all the glass obviously went off the plate rather than the paperwork :-)
I also know of situations where a brand new car would leave a showroom with wrong plates on it.
It took two years for a Yaris driver to realise that his plates belonged to a Jaguar XF. I used to work in that showroom
As for the plate, it's *******.
