Figured as needed to fix my maf to t/b pipe and had to disconnect the air induction kit I had decided to make a new one.

Nice and simple ordered a silicone 100mm-90mm reducer 5 inch length and a ramair filter 100mm neck size. It's the largest filter surface area I could see when having a look think its a skyline one.

Cleaned maf and tb while it was apart and trimmed half inch off the silicone pipe to help fit inside wing.

Took an hour I guess, noise is about the same (I had a k+n cone filter in a metal heat shield before)

Will log some intake temps over the next few weeks to monitor any heat soak but I don't expect it to make too much difference. Total cost for filter and silicone was about £50 and I still have my k+n filter, pipe and enclosure to sell i guess.

Great to see something new. I'm sure Ringram would approve of the new filter cone. I can't see underneath it, but I assume the sponge is just a protective sock over a pleated element???.

2 points for me: I wouldn't worry logging under bonnet temps until you can isolate the cone from the rest of the engine bay as the IATs will be the same anyway, IMO. Having said that, Ringram has proven that superior flow from an element is a priority over inlet temps. The trick is to get both sorted.

I'd also loose the convoluted intake tube for a smooth one (and I'm a "maf free" fan). The Ozzies use an older GTS mafless pipe for an improvement.

I did look at trying to reuse my k+n heat shield but it wouldn't fit due to the size of the filter but also a slight angle difference would have needed a silicone hose with a slight angle built in.

I did try and find a smooth maf pipe found them on eBay Aussie but wouldbt post to UK. MF list them on their site but sold out. I agree running maf'less would be better and look better to be honest this was more of a forced maf pipe fix fix and slight change than a planned mod.

The cone has metal cage internally and is multi layered foam its also advertised as maf friendly.

Great mod. Just needs finishing off. If you can wait until October, I'm going back for the Supercars GC 600. I can get that pipe for you and bring it back if you haven't sorted it by then???
