Ok.
You'll get used to it here. There's a lot of confusion, where someone will ask a question and not say what car they have - then you get two different answers, one for a Monaro, and one for a VXR8. hehe
Or 285s on some Monaros biggrinbiggrin

On tyreleader at the moment 255/35s (good for the rear) are £152

And the 245/35s are £147

http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/michelin/pil...

Bloody bargain!
Agreed.

So does the extra 10mm make a massive difference then on the back end of the ro (no joke please). I am running standard 10 spokes, I assume from this tread the 255s go straight on? I will be stocking a pair at this price.

I took out the ro for the first time this year tonight (Phil told me to get back in it).......god I've missed it. Responsive throttle and decent brakes for a change, awesome.

Fit no probs (255) and with the Monaro every extra 1mm helps imho hehe
also MPSS are wider than they say wink
My 285s are more like 293s

p.s only fit 255s to the rears not the front......

That's a difficult one to answer objectively, as naturally if you do the swap, you tend to go from worn 245s to brand new 255s, so the difference feels significant.

Mine feels noticeably less frisky with 255s on (which is a shame to be honest) but I haven't had new rears in ages, previously I've just swapped the fronts to the back and fitted the new ones on the front...

So in summary, I have zero decent evidence to offer you, as I have no useful experience of brand new 245s on the back to compare to new 255s getmecoat

They ARE bigger though, so, you know... hehe

The ro has got some use of late and now got yet another puncture to the rear offside has prompted a pair of MPSS 255's for the rears.....thanks for the heads up folks, tyre leader has some great prices

As you don't do much wet weather driving I'd probably go Cup2's...

Only thing that would worry me with Cup2's is if they need more heat in them before they come good, whereas MPSS are great from cold and get even better when warm....

true, and i never push on mpss until warm, so smile

only other thing is Michelin say don't mix tyres. My fronts are still like new.

Well that's crap frown

If you need new rears then what choice do you have? Take the MPSS off and store them or I'm sure someone will take them off your hands but you won't get close to what you probably paid for them as they have dropped significantly in price over recent months frown

Mixing tyres on the same axle i can understand is a nono, but it's not like you've got really crap tyres on the front and you put cup2's on the rear and the balance of grip between front & rear would be massive
