split intake pipe... long journey to do .grrr
Discussion
Just been under the bonnet changing the oil pressure sender and checking water and oil as im off to the fish Monday (130) miles
Noticed the intake pipe is split just where it meets the throttle body.
Im going to silicone and tape it up to get me there ,im sure it will hold .
Has anyone ever replaced it with a silicone replacement ,don't think the fish will have one in stock as its the enlarged one its 100mm id .
Id rather not buy an oe one if there a silicone one available. glad I spotted it though

Monkfish have some oe ones advertised on the site but I think they are £250 raving has some I believe.
The smooth ones were fitted on some other models and you can find them on Aussie eBay , I havnt seen a UK aftermarket one for sale but I would like one if you find any. Remember it has a sensor in the bottom.

Be very careful about using silicone, can cause havoc with O2 sensors, you can wrap it with self amalgamating tape, very good stuff always handy to have some in the boot, it can repair heater hoses too.
I had a Toyota Landcruiser and the intake split, I wrapped it in SA tape and was like it for 4 years and probably still is Try putting Commodore MAF pipe into Aussie Ebay, it will come up with a few. The GTS one is the original good one, so any like that will be fine.
The first one my car ever had was made using parts bought at a truckparts place. The rubber elbow was cable-tied to a piece of wire reinforced flexible hose.
Don't think you want the whole pipe made from flexible rubber as it might suck in when the throttle is pressed. The one above looks similar in style to what I had.
