I am needing to get new discs and pads for my 8. Currently there is DBA equipment on there which was put on by the previous owner but they have since developed a vibration. They had also been skimmed by the previous owner. I have been looking around for the best option to replace. I was wondering what other are running to try and get an idea of the way to go.

Thanks

Hey William. I Have been looking for a few days at the Monkfish and Walkinshaw stuff. The DBA that's on mine have come from Monkfish and fitted by them too. Have seen the HSV gear from Walkinshaw also.

Kevin has the car just now to get the paint work done and try to help with the brakes as they were pretty terrible. They were only fitted in August last year then skimmed in January but still awful to use..

Anything I do get wil be getting fitted by Kev. That's the best recommendation for stuff up north of the border.

Some people have imported direct from Oz and saved quite a bit of money, see the VXR forum for details.

Could it be that they haven't been used hard enough? EBC do budget discs, but there's a thread around here somewhere, of GaryH's ones, cracked to bits. Admittedly he was using them very hard, but if you're someone that anticipates very well, and brakes early an light then they may be your answer.

I had vibration on my VXR8 brakes, renewed the pads but still had a problem.
Recently put on EBC discs & pads at the same time...problem solved. If I do get a slight judder I do a couple of high speed stops & it solves the issue of residue build up on the pads.

They’ve been heated up and get a fair use but it was really bad when I dropped it off to get paint work done a few weeks ago. Kev has cleaned the hubs, as they were very dirty, and put the gear back on. Its not as bad but will find out tomorrow when i pick her back up. I am looking at the big brake upgrade from Walkinshaw but think I would need to change the caliper colour. LOL

Thanks for all the help as usual

I thought about this option but I think they need to bigger wheels, I may be wrong but sure there was some issue why I couldn't fit them.

You're right Snowy, the WPUK HSV big brake kits only fit under the 20 inch SV Wheels and the standard 20 inch E2/E3 wheels.

There's always Wortec brakes. Not cheap, but they seem to work very well, and they'll easily fit under 19s - or if you're like us, you get a hybrid set that fit under 18s - making tyres £100 per corner and giving a very comfy ride. biggrin
