Hi All

First post so here goes.

Looking at a Monaro on the way home from work tonight, I drive just over 4 miles to work in the morning, will it warm up in that time? I don't want a car that's never warm especially with all the topics on the level of slap.

Much appreciated in advance

Thanks

Paul

Welcome!

My run to work is around 3 miles, and while the temp gauge shows normal I'm not 100% sure it is actually correct. I usually let it run for a minute or so before driving off. Or take a slight detour...

Water will heat up a lot quicker than oil, it's the oil temp you need to look at not water

As said oil temp is more important than water. I need to do 5 miles at least on test drive to get car to warm temp amd car is fine after 8-10 miles

Also bear in mind you should really get exhaust / cats hot on most journeys

I would say go the long way home driving

I can't think of any car that is truly warm in 4 miles. I usually reckon on the gearbox and diff take a good 20 miles to get up to operating temperature - and about 10 miles for the engine.

It takes a good 15 mins to warm mine up before I'll give it some.

I would say the answer is probably no I'm afraid.

15 mins ish & wait for the oil to warm up. 4-5 miles, takes longer in the winter strangely.

I have just been to see it, it has had recent paint on fhe front bumper and bonnet, but the wings and legs look ok apart from 3 rippls on the nearside leg are these always there?

The gaps on the rear bumper dont look fantastic (used to my 330) and the door kickplates are a bit rusty.

Had a good look underneath and rear arms had a bit of rust but all else pretty solid.

I think £13,999 is too much and the paint makes me nervous!

Front bumper and bonnet pair is not unusual ona Monaro, they collect stone chips

The paint wouldn't put me off, quite a few cars have had front end resprays by now. Also the panel gaps are fairly normal aswell in my experience.

£14k seems a bit steep though, probably worth closer to £11k.
