That is Gary Paramores old car. Vanrooyen sold it last time just over a year ago for £33k. Awesome car
But is it £33k awesome? From dim distant recollection of a similar thread last time it went up for sale, getting to 660hp or so is relatively easy but still likely to cost £11-15k+ if you are paying someone else to do it. Getting to 730-750hp now others have paid for the trial and error approach has still got to be up around £20k+ on top of the base car. Forged internals, cam, s/c, 3 bar fuel system, ls9 clutch, headers, huge hi flow cats, cat back blah blah all adds up...
So a base car at £18-20k by the looks of it plus £20k is still going to be up towards £40k. Clearly if your ok to spanner it'll save some cash!!
The previous owner to me really did spend £35k on all the mods including trial and error costs, I only got the 3" cat back put on.
So I guess you decide what power you want and whether you're prepared to pay the price!
Stage 5 for my GTR would have set me back £15k...or £10k on top of my stage 4...but getting to 800-850 hpnwas looking more like £20k...or getting to 1200 or so has cost a friend of a friend £60k+ for his GTR so far....now that's expensive!

My 1200hp engine originally cost £8k plus the turbos (£2k). Bigger turbos and fuel injectors later and it runs well north of that figure now. Gearbox was £4k. Guessing the whole install in the Ro was £20k. American stuff is sooo much cheaper than the Japanese stuff.granjuiceymoose said:
I do like the rear end on this one, nice an subtle although am I right in thinking it's still got standard brakes ?
Monkfish can correct me but pretty sure they were std when I had the car! Made for some interesting repeated high speed braking at times...got up there quick though ArnieVXR said:

And if I had to choose between a C7 vette or a Camaro and a GTR, aesthetically, no contest! (All highly subjective stuff of course).ArnieVXR said:

1200 only cost you £20k?? Fair play, shows how cheap your own knowledge/labour and presumably 2nd hand parts can make things I guess...paying someone else and new parts and £20k (forged engine, s/c, cam, 3 bar fuel system, ls9 clutch, headers, huge cats, cat back blah blah) would barely get you 750hp even on the VXR8 stuff. I'm sure Harry and Jezz spent a multiple of that on their TT builds.I don't believe jap is particularly more expensive than GM, Ford etc, though maybe the knowledge and parts are more plentiful if you know what you're looking for and able to get your hands dirty?
I must hitch a ride in that car of yours sometime though, sounds awesome!
Hi Gary,
I have an LSX427, which I bought second hand. The parts were, with the exception of the block, all new. An LSX block will set you back around £3k and is rated to 2500hp. A crate LSX376-B15 is £7.2k and will happily make 1000hp with the right power adder.
GM has made it easier than ever to put together a 1000hp motor with very little effort, negating the need to get an engine builder to craft something from scratch, as per all the higher power cars to grace this forum.
Experiencing the delights of the LSX427 is a bit tricky now. The latest car to house my engine is a bit 'rough and ready', built only for racing. That said, it does have a passenger seat...
