Gents, found that one of my exhaust clamps has broken today. I won't be able to fit a new one until next weekend....in the meantime do you think I should avoid using the car? It's the bit shown in the pics below. There doesn't seem to be any movement between the 2 sections of exhaust without the clamp, but don't want to take any unnecessary risks. Wadya think....cheers?!

Common sense stuff, I'd think. OK for a few days but will probably become loose by the weekend.

Hi Rocket,

First off, spotted today at Tescos thumbuphehe

As above, short journeys for a few days should be ok, but I reckon a few decent bumps and it'll work itself loose, for the sake of a week, if you can do without, I'd leave it.

I have got some jubilee clips here, but at fully open, they are just over 2.5 inch, if you think it might fit, feel free to pop over.

Okay, worst case scenario, the exhaust splits, the rear piece drops on the ground, catches, lifts the rear of the car, and you spear off the road at 90°.

Alternatively, it could be fine, or the exhaust won't touch the ground, or it will spin around rather than catching.

Come on Araf that's a bit OTT LOL but your right it could happen I must say, just buy a new clamp and fit it yourself

PS buy two and change both, you can get the size off the one that fell off and motor factors will have them.

I agree it's OTT, but it has happened before, so 'could' happen again. I risked it in my old Escort estate, and the box spun and just rubbed on the ground until I took it off the rubbers. No real harm done, but it could have been worse, and I wouldn't risk it in Mrs Araf's truck.

I wouldn't risk it either, could easily pop out and then dig into a pot hole
