Hi folks,

Off on a bit of a road trip in a couple of weeks in the 'Ro so thought I'd chuck a thread up to document it.

Route is home-Calais-Reims-annecy-Nice-Monaco-St Tropez (staying here a week) Bordeaux-La Rochelle-Calais-home

The car...

It's going into monkfish this Friday for a quick check over then we will soon be off.

Will post plenty of pics on the way!

Might be worth buying some Shell shares smile

Nice - I presume you'll be travelling from Annecy to Nice down the N85 'Route Napoleon'...?

Watch out for the old bill on the N85, only place I've been stopped in France by it turned out 40 coppers and the head of the local judiciary. The locals will flash their lights at you before you reach the trap, take heed or as I did donate generously to the Christmas party fund of the Gendarmerie.

That sounds like a very nice driving route indeed. There are many nice roads down near Nice, and just that part of coastal France is very nice in itself.

Calais - Reims - St Tropez - Nice - Monaco - Annecy- Calais would be the linear way to do it!

Nope - you wouldn't keep up now! hehe

I was going to suggest the OP books the high vehicle ride as the carriages are allot wider where you drive and you wont have to worry about getting on, along and off without scratching your alloy edges as its quite close in the normal car ones.

Nice stance on your car. What suspension set up do you have?

Thanks for the comments and advice folks.

To answer a couple of questions - ferry, not Chunnel. Already told them it's quite low so hopefully should position the car appropriately.

Suspension is Pedders coilovers.

Popped this into Monkfish on Friday for a checkover prior to the trip and am I glad I did. They identified a slight leak in the rad so had that replaced with the alloy one they are now selling and a nail was spotted in a front tyre (sorted today by my local tyre place)

Looking forward to heading off this Saturday.

you have to stop around Nantes, at least for lunch. I will be pleased to meet another UK V8!

I am something like 60 km north of Nantes.

Yes, I didn't want to say where you were staying, in case you didn't want people to know. Are you close to finishing at the restaurant?

Okay, I'll see you at your hotel in 15/20 mins. I'll be wearing black jeans and a grey T shirt, black jacket.
