My question is has anyone carbon/hydro dipped their wheels?
My black VXR8 needs a bit of attention! the brake callipers (red VXR) have faded... not decided yet on redoing them in yellow or blue with HSV logo, and my 20inch shadow chrome's have started to bubble a little around the centres, and got a few small tell tale kerb battle scars! the centre caps have gone dull and need replacing also...I know I should just get them re-done again in shadow chrome, but cant seem to dismiss the idea in my head of carbon/hydro dipping them.

part of me is a little worried it'll get too dark with black paint, tinted windows and carbon wheels...also its wearing 245s on the front and 285s on the back on the 20"s but offers little or no protection at all for the alloys. could I go bigger on tyres without catching them in the wheel arches?

Not sure it would cope too well with hot brake dust

Hydro dipping will not last well on wheels unless your really on top of the cleaning. Seen it done and it does not look that good on wheels IMHO. Refurbed wheels are powder coated which is hard when completed in an oven. Your car though.

As for wider tyres, the rears are only 9.5" wide so 285 is really your limit as 295 will bulge to much, 275 is the OEM size BTW. They should fit without rolling the arches though.
