Yes really!

At the moment I have headers, sports cats, an X pipe, cutouts and Magnaflow rear boxes. I want to take out the high pitched raspy sound, and hopefully get a quieter deep tone instead?
So.... I'm thinking about having two small straight through bullet type silencers (one each side) welded in just under the heat shields, prior to the rear axle.
So if anyone has a system like that, or knows better then type away!

Regards John

Mine is currently running standard shorty headers (5.7 VXR) with standard cats and the cat back is an X with 2 bullet mufflers mounted in the middle.

I just had a look through my videos but I only really have dyno runs. An you can't hear it that well.

Can hear it a little bit here at the end. It's not as loud as wortecs etc but definitely not as raspy in person.

My R8 has a full Walkinshaw system, but set to 'quiet' - nice and deep with no raspiness. smile

Can you expand on this G?

I want more deep popping and rumbling on the 8 but dont necessarily want the loud raspy 4 pot sound..

Mines the same on the CV8, horrid raspy noise, it was made better by replacing the back box as someone previously had chopped all the baffles out.

Mine is stock headers, wortec exhaust (no centre boxes or cats) and just a exhaust specialist rear box. The system doesnt have a x or h pipe.
Running up through the revs it sounds fine, but when you come off throttle it has this odd rasp noise, I dont know another LS motor that makes that noise!

I have some shorty headers that I am about to fit and hopefully an x pipe, but more then likely itll be a H pipe as im lazy, im hoping it makes it better, but also may help the OP

My CV8 has a slightly deeper tone than most of the Wortec systems I've heard, and there's no rasp.

The car has standard cats, VXR stubby headers and a 2.5 inch Pacemaker system which comes with an h-pipe.

As MyM8V8 mentioned alluded to, h-pipes tend to produce a deeper more "old school" sound compared to x-pipes. Plenty of comparisons on youtube so you can hear the tonal difference if you do a search.

Best bet is to listen to a few cars at the next meet ears

A custom made one. 1 3/4" long tube headers, 100 cell cats, 2 1/2" system with an X pipe & a couple of bike cans (well they're about the size of bike cans).
All made by Long Life Exhausts in Essex. Jamie fabricated the whole system from scratch to a discussed spec. It made quite a difference to power & response.

The whole story can be read here www.hsv-owners.com You'll have to sign up if you're not already a member.

Give them a call with your requirements.
