VCM intake head shield just won't fit
Discussion
I have an 05 spec CV8 Monaro and I bought a VCM intake from MF years ago, and I still have it fitted today.
I read somewhere that it can be fitted to the car in 20 minutes.
Well..... it took me three days!, my back and my legs were killing me!!! hunched over a Monaro and swearing like a trooper...It really didn't help my stress levels.
In the end I got some tin snips and trimmed the base of the metal cover in order to get it to fit. I then used a small file to smooth it off. I also used a small self tapper to secure it to the car.
I have removed the intake from time to time in order to check the condition of the cone filter, and I can tell you it is still a pain to line it all up again.
I was a bit P***ed off paying a fortune for something only to hack around with it in order to make it fit, but such is life!
Would I buy another one..well yes..it was the first mod to my car and straight away when I put my foot down the sound of the exhaust had changed and you could tell that there is a lot more air going into the engine.
When you line the intake pipe up make sure nothing is catching the drive belts.
Have faith!
