Hi all,

I have an 04 Monaro VXR LS1, and the old girl is now really starting to show her age frown I recently had the belt/tensioner/pulley set replaced due to paranoia about bad engine noises!

Now it turns out the AC Compressor is on it's way out, and having been checked over by the local Vauxhall delear, was quoted £1200 + fitting for a replacement!!! As you can imagine, I politely declined their offer to fix it...

The car's already booked in for week at Monkfish in October for a bunch of remedial work, so I'll give them a call about this as well but looking at their website they don't seem to do a compressor for the Monaro.

Does anyone know of cheaper alternatives, available in the UK? Googling brings up a bunch of stuff about AC Delco compressors in the States or Delphi in Australia.

Cheers!

If you search for a 2004 pontiac gto on rockauto, you can buy an ac delco part for £200 delivered

I bought one from MF recently for an LS1 VXR. Price was less than half your VX price

A used one is not a bad option but make sure it has the right connections - the pipe fits vertically which is different to the later cars that fit horizontally.

Thanks guys, the Rockauto is a good link though it comes to around £250 with tax.
There seems to be several different part numbers and fitments when it comes to compressors for the LS1 so I want to make sure I get the right one! Vince do you mean the LS2 when you say later models? The AC Delco compressor has the same part number for both 5.7 & 6.0 versions.

jameshsv thanks, have sent you a PM.
