I'm new to VXR ownership and I was wondering what's the best fuel to put in my monaro VXR? All my other performance cars I've use super unleaded. Previous owner said he put normal unleaded in it when he owned it. Is it just down to personnel preference?

I generally use regular in my vxr8, anyone with a supercharger will recommend super unleaded.

Welcome aboard wavey

Depends how you drive it too hehe

If you enjoy smacking the revs off the limiter you might consider using super of the Shell variety, if you drive a bit more sedately then I can't see what benefit you'd get and you might as well use the cheap stuff smile

SUL or equivalents isnt essential, but if you can afford it and it's readily available, I'd always be using it.

Of course if you just cruise about or are stuck in traffic all day, probably not much point in spending the extra

It's a weekend toy so it won't get used a lot to be honest. Think I will stick super unleaded in it as its a performance car at the end of the day.

You can't get better than Shell Nitro (Super).

Proven.

Yup Shell for me too I use it in the monaro and my 3.2 Omega and they both run smoother and better

As you can see plenty of variations to grade and make, just try for yourself, and way up results.
Any excuse for a drive in your motor.

Take care

I have Monaro VXR as well and only use either shell mostly or esso if I have to. I go with regular octane.

Mine is also pretty much standard so I don't think I would get much benefit from higher octane.

What does the handbook recommend? for the 328hp CV8 it states the engine is mapped for 91 & 95 RON, so as mine is as it left the factory, I just use Shell 95.
