I've just sent an e-mail to Duxford asking for room for 12-20 cars, and saying that we will arrive at about midday.

Moderators, can you make this a sticky please, and amend the title to "HSV visit to Duxford 20th March 2016"

As a few months have passed since I first suggested it, I won't hold anyone to their earlier commitment, but can we now copy and paste the below list, for people that will be coming?
I still haven't had a reply from Duxford, so I telephoned them today. Firstly, we can only get a group discount if we pay for the tickets in advance. Too much like hard work to organise, and as the proceeds go towards the museum.....

Also as it is the second day of the revamped US hanger being open, they expect to be really busy, so will not hold spaces in their car park.

I'm still going, but thought I'd better let you all know, just in case any of you are expecting something that isn't going to be. scratchchin

eta: I've heard from a frequent visitor that when cars arrive together, they get parked together, so there's still a chance that we will be in a couple of groups. smile

Good idea - though there aren't any services close on the motorway.

Does anyone local have ideas?

I know, but that's 20 miles south of Duxford, for those coming from the North.

Where's the nearest Morrisons? wink

Up there do not know that one
Just local deliveries? You're not much better than a postman, let alone a van driver. wink

there is very few "local" places to meet up. as Goldie said its either the birchnager services or the Tesco's in royston there about equal distance from duxford. for these that have never been traffic there will be a bloody nightmare. so much so the locals normally go away for the weekend, just to avoid it. also point worth nothing si that the entracne to the big carprk is though a grass field you would have better luck at winning the lottery than getting in the tarmc carpark.
Thanks Ferret. Royston is no good then. smile

It's been a long time since I've seen a post from you. Don't be a stranger. cool

Hi everyone, there is Baldock services just off junction 10 on the A1 which is west of Duxford. It would suit both north and south travellers.
Then travel along the A505 to Duxford. Postcode SG75TR if you want to look on the map.

Terry
The problem with that,is it's twice the distance that Royston is. frown

Tesco Royston is just off a roundabout on the A505 and is 9 miles, 14 minutes.....

I'm starting a new thread for the southern convoy. We will call in at the Birchanger Services on the M11, to pick up the Essex posse. smile

Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it too - but then it was my choice of venue. Thanks everyone, for making it a good day.

Good to meet a few new members, and I hope everyone got home safely. cool

Mods, can you un-sticky this now please?

There was no sign, but this is a Kittihawk. The nearest signs said Spitfire.

Yeah threw Steve and myself as they're not normally Merlin powered.
Was it a Merlin? They were always a V12, and some variants had the Packard (licenced Merlin) engines fitted.
