Hi

Could I have some opinions please?

MY VXR8's battery was replaced in December 2013 and I fitted "Bosch silver 096 Battery (S5008)
Item Number S5008", this is a 5 year guarantee one (as I think these all are), so I would not expect it to be near its life's end after 3 years (too optimistic?).

I suspect the battery because lots of postings on here refer to battery problems and because during this week, my LPG installation would not switch over. The service mode said charge was 74%. I trickle charged over night (charge then 100% and LPG switched over as normal).

Today I and drove my 46 miles to work, then another 20 miles to a meeting. The charge was reported as 99.6%, but the sat nav would not show a map (blank screen), until I drove another 15 miles and after a fueling stop.

Now, the car is in my garage and an hour after parking the voltage on the terminals in engine compartment are 12.89V with no load and 12.4V with headlamps ON.

Does this sound iffy?

Assuming it does need replacement what is a good source?

Thanks for reading this long posting.

Steve

PS A quick search on t'internet. How do these sound (prices look good):

Sounds like the battery is going unless something is drawing a heavy load ie:starter fault take it to a motor spares and get the to drop test it that will tell you if the battery is faulty also why look for another if the battery has a 5 year guarantee just take it back to where you got it and they should change it for a new one.

New battery fitted; slightly larger than the old one £90. I can't risk soemthing dodgy on way to clients.

I suspect the charging algorithm is suspect. Will make a seperate post.
