New Mustang how will it compare?

Ten years! The Monaro is part of the Commodore VT-VZ family, which was heavily based on the Vauxhall/Opel Omega B1 and that was launched in 1994. So you could argue that there's over 20-years between them.
Guessing you found the V8 ran more like a muscle car than I did with the V6. Which means that the 4-pot turbo will be shyte. Shame, as I thought that would be the one to run as a daily driver.
I still find myself looking at a 6-series. How does Arnie640d sound? Or maybe I'll recreate my old twin turbo (concrete barriers beware).
Don't right the 4 pot off yet the v6 is an old pos engine that should have never been fitted to the new gen mustang the 2.3 turbo is a very good engine that is seriously tuneable Guessing you found the V8 ran more like a muscle car than I did with the V6. The v8 boys are having serious issues keeping in front of the turbo cars in the states now

Very true but if your gonna have a Mustang then it has to be a V8 The v8 boys are having serious issues keeping in front of the turbo cars in the states now

The current V6 engine is 4 years old.... It makes more power than the 4.6 V8 did that was still in use until 2010.The v8 boys are having serious issues keeping in front of the turbo cars in the states now
Think you are thinking of the old 4.0 V6 which was a boat anchor. The 3.7 is a relatively new engine.

I wasn't aware of that I thought it was the older unit Think you are thinking of the old 4.0 V6 which was a boat anchor. The 3.7 is a relatively new engine.
The v8 is a fantastic engine but the 4 pot will be the tuners choice
These new vs old threads always make me smile, I previously owned a Clio Sport and there were lots of threads similar on those forums. I've never really contributed before, but heres my 2p's worth.
Firstly, the gear ratio stuff early on seems very interesting, odd that ford have gone with shorter ratios but with similar spacing for a v8 powered car. With regard to how the car would feel 'In the gear' as discussed, I dont think you can assume both cars would be in the same gear at the same speed based on those ratios. If both were pulling from say 40mph, it looks like the Mustang would be in 3rd, and the Monaro in 2nd, so comparing both accelerating in 3rd would be pointless as in the real world this wouldn't be the case.
It's also interesting people pitting the two against each other as rivals, when they are worlds apart in price. Comparing a 10 year old 10-15k car with a brand new 30+k car seems a little unfair.
I also think people forget how much money new cars lose, I don't buy cars for investments, but to my eyes a Monaro will never be worth less than 8k, so it only has around 3k to lose, you would lose more than that on the Mustang the second you signed the paperwork.

Will be able to make a direct comparison when my brother gets his next month (could well be this month though). It's even the same colour as my Monaro.
I like the looks, and think it represents good value for money - no point comparing with a Gen-F as they are different cars in a different price bracket.
It's a RHD V8 with a line lock as standard; regardless of the badge, that can only be a good thing in this day and age of smaller 4 cylinder turbos and the drive for meeting and/or cheating the emissions regs.
