As a previous thread of mine, will need new front rubber in a little while.

Oponeo are doing a good price on Kumho tyres at the moment, £92 each , what do you guys think of this brand.

I always thought they were good tyres.

I can get Continentals for £110 fitted each from a garage.

Unsure Dave not used them before but others have so I dare say they will be on here to reply soon, have found in the past lower cost tyres work fine on standard power and nothing wrong fitting them, if you are standard power, my car has continentals and were fitted by HSV not my cup of tea I must say as grip is non existent, will be fitting Michelin in the spring and will report back on my findings.

Kumho do lots of different tyre types I'd think, as do Continental.

I've always liked the visual appearance of some Continental stuff, but never really heard too many reviews highly praising them

We had KU39s on the front of our VXR8, and they were just as good as the previous OE Bridgestones, for the time we had the car.

All depends which model your thinking about for each of those manufacturers. ...?

Ku39 not as good as the now n/a Ku31 in the Kumhos.

Conti sports contact 3 is a better tyre giving better grip and life span, although it's a bit noisy, as the Euro labels will confirm no doubt. Just be sure to fit the generic or mo ( mercedes) not the ao1 Audi or Porsche variants. Forget the sports contact 5 it's crap on bigger rear wheel drive cars by comparison,

Preferred the Kumhos over the Falkens personally due to stability.

Experience based on the tiddler omega which is more closely related to the monaro than the r8 so ignore or accept as required.

had Kumho's on my old Crossfire (ie quite a chunky tyre) and found it to be quite quiet as well as good ride quality and grippy. Thumbs up from me too

I've got KU39's on my monaro too. Would echo the above - theyre fine all rounders. No problems with them.

Although I've never tried the fabled PSS. I'd feel guilty about smoking them laugh

Yup, another vote for Kumho here, would put them on an equal footing with Hankook as a leading mid range branded tyre.

@OP - What size are you looking for? I always use google shopping to find the best deals ( https://goo.gl/yFzZSn ) - looks like Camskill and Boss Tyres are cheaper than Oponeos for this size but watch as some might not have free delivery.

Got them all round my VXR8 & they're fine. Rears were advisory on the last MOT but I'd already booked to have them changed straight after (mate runs a tyre place) & the fronts are KU39s & I don't like having different brands around a car let alone across axles. Even standard power will spin the wheels up regardless of make.

I also have Kumhos KU39 on mine. I personally think they are a very good low priced choice, alternative to Michelins.

You'll have no problems with KU39's on a standard VXR8.

However, things start to change if you increase the HP (in my oppinion).

I've had a set of Kumhos on my R8 for 2 1/2 years now and had no problems.....done nearly 20k on them, though the back ones will probably need changing this year at some point.
