Hiya all,I'm after a little help,I've just imported my HSV R8 GenF Maloo from Australia and I was trying to find out if anyone knows how I can replace the Australian maps stored on the hard drive of the car with UK maps so I can use the mapping system here in UK
I've been told it has to be loaded using a memory stick that gets loaded in the glove box
Any help would be great

There's not many GenFs here, and I don't know if the sat nav is a cost option on them.

I would think Walkinshaws are your best bet for the information.

I would talk to Walkinshaw. We have the full European setup pre-installed on official imports.

Yet, we can't update it to the latest version that reads postcodes...

I think that is Walky being a bit retarded. The Aussies get told the same, then a mylink upgrade gives them the reverse lines.

It's not like the Porsche system, where it doesn't tell you it takes them? If you start typing the postcode, it will take up to the first 5 digits/letters and recognise them.

No it doesn't work. There is no postcode field, you have to step through city/area/road/number.

Have you tried typing "RG" in the town field, to see if it then lets you put numbers in?

Played about with it with kevros at Kentucky Sunday for a bit, he has a Postcode input and reversing lines being an MY15 model, MY14 and prior do not have this functionality frown VX and Walky are being spectacularly useless in helping out, should just be a mylink update. Might start complaining about Bluetooth connection issues, seems to sort out the ozzies....

Ok so going to the Head of HSV Engineering for you is "being Spectacular useless".
I agree it wasnt the answer you wanted but we including Walkinshaws did try for you.

When the ozzies are getting told the same thing and then getting the update, something is amiss somewhere in the chain. There is a mylink update which is a holden update to fix it. Maybe I shoulda said Walky and Holden not VX, but you get my drift. Walkinshaw's support for this vehicle in the UK is absolutely ridiculous. A week after I got my car in Dec 2014 I was told that they were manufacturing a full exhaust including headers based on the Aus version. Nothing. They do not even advertise on their site any products for the Gen-f.

We all know your reasoning for other marques being better than Holden is shakey, but this is really pushing the boundary. hehe

I was told ( As I relayed to you ) that the problem was its a Specific UK download so therefore any updates that you see others getting in Australia its not as easy as that to give you the same update.
Im not and Engineer but I did as the relevant people for you.
Problem you have with the Walkinshaw products they can bring items from Australia no problem but as I think most know that the Australian " Stainless Steel " is far from Stainless.
And I would think from a business point of view reproducing such items for UK specific on a 1 off basis would be quite expensive so I would say if you wanted one contact Ken at Walkinshaws but be prepared for a rather large price tag as it would be made as a one off.
Welcome to the joys of a low volume products (but that's also the reason we love them too)

You didn't actually say it was a UK specific thing, but not a problem, the Holden lot are still being fobbed off.

I was told they were remanufacturing the Aus spec in better steel in an email from them dated 18-12-2014. Their remanufacturing process must be really slow.

As a bit of an aside I am looking into purchasing a GM MDI and a laptop for fault code reading repair and fault code clearing on the GenF GTSs. I am having issues with access to the GM Infotech TIS2Web I keep getting conflicting information about do I need a dealer code to access and purchase the relevant service and parts information, programming software and diagnostic software. I wonder if Dougie can confirm if I need a dealer code to access and purchase the above or not.
The GM MDI id the only diagnostic tool that is available for the latest GenF cars. This has been confirmed by Vauxhall Walikinshaw and Holden HSV and before anyone says anything about other diagnostic tool dealers none of them cover Holden HSV i have spent 3 months and lots of research asking them all.
On the TIS2Web there should be information and a download for the earlier GenF cars as regards updating the satnav as and when new downloads and vehicle updates come available online.
