Boot stuck 55 plate Monaro

Hi all. The boot is stuck down on my Monaro (fuel tank in boot). The electrics work, and I have pulled the manual release cable, which did nothing. Reading on the US LS1GTO site, I need to remove the number plate and drill a hole to access the rear of the catch. Anyone know of a better way, and if not could someone send me a picture of the latch in situ on the boot lid, so I can work out where to drill.
