What's not logical?
Modifying cars in general. Yes, I'm a hypocrite.
Was hoping for more specific an answer. Old man won't allow anyone to mod their cars as he has blown up 4 of his without ever driving them, Stevie knows his st, but is far too drag focussed, Arnie sold his heartbeat and you mud think modding is stupid. Have I missed anything?

And I'm sure it won't fit under the bonnet of a VXR8, let alone a Monaro.
I always find it helps to read things smile

I had a Heartbeat! Cool - what was it like? bounce

I've never had a car with a supercharger attached and actually working. I do have an LSA supercharger sat on my shelf and an engine in bits on the floor, but that's as far as it goes.

I'm really quite jealous of your Gen-F, Barney. Latest style GTS looks smart and the revised interior is a step up from the already nice one in the VXR8. And I can only dream of how nice being rust free is. Thinking I should accept reality, sell all my unfinished projects and just buy a new car.

PS don't get put off by the banter on here. It's been a while since we had a thread like this to mass debate.

I think you should be grateful that people with more experience and manners than you take time to offer you advice. You clearly know nothing about these cars or the people on this forum. I suggest you go back to the local drive thru where the other teens can be impressed by your awesomeness.

Edit: if you are hell bent on modding your GTS, start small with some neons for the underside. The local yoofs with think they're 'sick' and it shouldn't put too much of a dent in you paper round money?

And you should just fk off back to the retirement home you woke up in because you have no knowledge of any tuning whatsover you fking retard. It shows that you managed to blow up all those engines whilst not clearing any miles. fking wkstain.

Quoted for posterity. You should paint your calipers yellow.

I don't have anything against anyone who actually wants to learn about s/c inefficiencies, except wormus. He is a fking old who begrudges the new wave of having fun and learning from their own mistakes rather than his 4 blown engines. Still confused how you can blow an engine when you cannot even drive.

That's uncalled for. Leave Wormus alone. He's done a lot to further the tuning potential on the V8s in the UK, and has had the misfortune to make mistakes so that others don't have to.

I don't know if you've been drinking tonight, or what your problem is, but you're way out of order Barnaby. If you don't like someone for some reason, ignore them.

Just completely fed up with his bullst Ian, and calling him out on it. I wouldn't call paying tuning companies to repeatedly fk your car up is furthering the tuning potential.

There are very few people on here with actual knowledge of all the variables in tuning, and he is not one of them. I am starting to see why the vast majority of people with knowledge have left, and how yellow caliper gate happened.

And yes I was drunk, but no I do not regret what I said.

Peace out.

No need to be rude. I just value a bit of humility and you forget we are an established community who've been trading banter for about 10 years when the Monaro came on the scene. Lots of experience in here and my own disasters and successes have been born from experimentation and the pursuit of more power. It's an expensive business and we are simply trying to impart some useful knowledge. If you choose to ignore our/my advice that's your choice.

Someone has to pay for the R&D, and if the smaller companies cannot do that, they need to have a sponsor. As for companies screwing up the work, I wouldn't even wish that on you in the state you were last night. All knowledge is good, whether first hand experienced, or paid for.

I can't work out if you were sore at Wormus for not doing the tuning himself, or jealous that he could afford to pay for it to be done.

FWIW supercharging has an upper limit on use ability and horsepower.
If you go down that path then you'll be topping out around the 800hp number.
Sounds fine when you're south of that figure but what to do when your a year past it and want more, you've nowhere to go without huge cost and compromise.
A more cost effective option would be to enjoy the GTS as is and start from scratch with some old high mileage snotter and play with a home fitted TT install, gradually increasing turbo size as you learn. The sky's the limit baby.
Torque control, boost control, throttle position control, Rev control. All possible with turbos. And as the whole of the known worlds car manufacturers are switching over to the technology now, the techs going to get a heap cheaper and way better.
PD blowers...hmmm....not so much.

If you can wait until mine is back on the road I'm pretty sure one drive out will convince you of the merits of a good turbo install.

I'm still here you know! Not sure what you are "calling me out on" ? You think because people like Jez, Arnie and I can afford/prefer for other people to build our cars so we can break them, that means we're not worthy? Mapping is one part of the equation and if you knew anything, you'd know that. Now stop behaving like an angry toddler.

Any update on yours Jez? Hope you're tuning it yourself (doesn't count otherwise) biggrin
