I put Comma Mvatf+

http://carpartsandaccessoriescentre.co.uk/comma-mv...

in my red VXR8 and it made the gearbox so much nice to use

Dont forget to fill to the level plug, put that plug back in then remove the reversing light switch which is above the level fill plug and add another half a litre.

Remember that this transmission is only compatible with Dextron III, and certain special after-market synthetics. One cannot use Dextron IV, Dextron V, or Dextron VI, as they are not backwards-compatible in this application. These will ruin the non-metal parts and turn the tranny into a boat anchor.

What do you mean by this?

No such thing as dexron IV or V.

Most aftermarket oil companies will (or should!) have endorsement from their additive supplier to say that dexron IV fluid can be used in place of dexron III, IIIG or IIIH. Remember it is the additive supplier that develops the spec with the OEM in the first place and then will sell the technology to the aftermarket as required and/or permitted by the OEMs (for engine oil they have to be released under the Block Exemption regulation).

Despite this comment...Tremec/GM even announced a bulletin stating from certain years Dex 6 was fitted from the factory.....and none turned into boat anchors.

But the price of Dex6 alone would put you off, Dex3 is just fine.

I am only quoting years and years of posts from LS1GTO.com and I did once phone Tremec, who verified this.

Hi Mick.

I thought the VXR8 gear boxes were sealed, may be wrong, if not, is the gearbox oil change an easy DIY job or garage job.

Is there any how to videos or posts.

No not sealed Dave, it has to be done on a ramp really as getting to the reversing light switch is quite hard, Neil done mine and has modified a spanner to remove the the reversing switch so you can add the extra 1/2 a litre
