I'm using my DB9 more and more for daily short trips of 20 minutes around town. What will happen to the engine eventually, and when? Should I worry?

How many long trips should I do to compensate for the short ones - if at all?

Well for my V8V of 5 years and now my V12V of 5 months, 90% of my trips are to the sports club and back. 8 miles, 15-20 mins, 5 fun roundabouts. Haven't experienced anything untoward and don't expect to.

I wouldn't worry. Just give it more frequent oil changes and stretch its legs now and then.

As long as everything is getting up to full working temperature each time and once it is you give it some decent revs there should be no additional problems than lots of long trips smile

The only downside will be your fuel consumption. You are going far enough to get the car to full working temperature so there should be absolutely no downsides.

Thanks all, that's what I thought. When I first bought it my son who's a qualified tech thought he felt some slight misfiring that he said was due to not being used enough. In the last 10 months I've put on 3000 miles and there's no hesitation now. But I thought the short trips might be a problem later on, so after reading your replies I went and did a big motorway blast. Well, I feel better anyway!
