I have a vxr8 ls2 manual. When im driving in first second and third gear slowly there is a big bang as if tthe gear has popped out into neutral but hasn't. If im at a junction and turning right it will bang until i straighten up or build up speed. It also gets worse if i floor the car. If i leave it to sit for a few hours its not as bad but still there. Also when i put it in to first gear i can feel a clunk through my leg off the clutch, not sure if this is related? Does it sound like diff problem?

From your description it may well be the diff

I will be driving it to the garage which is 15 miles away. Will driving it the way it is cause the car to stop working?

I'd get the RAC to take it there (if you are in it)

Diff or poss a Cv on the rear shafts are common on Manual cars

If you buy a used diff the manual & auto cars run different ratios but they are interchangeable & work

Had the car in the garage. Gearbox and diff oil were really thin and bad. Diff oil had tiny bits of metal in. He said he will order a new complete diff. With labour he thinks about £1700 is this about right? It only happens turning right and if ive floored the car it will do it in a straight line below 30mph. New oils did nothing to smooth things out
