Never a dull moment with a Holden… the dreaded ABS / TC fault has appeared again and my scanner is coming up with multiple faults which suggests either a bad earth or perhaps the wiring harness:
C1210 - ABS outlet valve coil RIGHT FRONT circuit failure
C1235 - RIGHT REAR wheel sensor input missing
Here’s the rear harness getting an inspection (with help from my son!)
Ps. It’s on stands not just poised on bricks!

After 6 years, I started getting an itch to try something new.. so the obviously place to start looking was with a VF GTS. James at Elite had just taken delivery of a lovely car and I got in there before anyone else had a chance to see it:
The ‘R8 ticks so many boxes for me that the idea of something newer and faster but fundamentally the same had real appeal.
So did I buy it? No.
I found the little extra power and additional refinement a little underwhelming. The toys also don’t make much that much difference to me as I have previously fitted an after market Apple CarPlay unit in my aging car.
The throttle response and torque is immense in the GTS, but outright power isn’t night and day when compared to my current car. The build quality is a big step forward, but it just didn’t get me excited enough to justify the spend.
Given the miles on my car and the fact I know what’s been done to it over the last few years means it’s probably worth more to me than anyone else, so I think I’ll be keeping her for a while yet.
I’m not that keen on the usual German products, maybe I’ll take a closer look at a GTR next…

Interesting outcome.
Well, if your current steed is in fine fettle and you know where you stand with it, I can understand the decision to keep.
For me, the age issue is now opposite. I'm thinking these cars get cooler as they get older. Certainly from a Monaro perspective.
Any extra power is somewhat irrelevant nowadays, congestion, cameras and reduced speed limits everywhere.
My ~400 or so horses scare me more than enough as it is.
Good on you for at least having a look though.

Fair points, mine has near 500bhp and I’d struggle to deploy much more very often!
I also think that the older cars have more character and ‘rawness’, for me there was a sweet spot of performance & engagement in cars that were made around 2000 - 2010.
Let’s see what the next 12 months brings!

Good decision. I was at a huge car show yesterday at Chateau Impney in Worcs and out of probably 600 cars, mine was the only Ro (or Holden for that matter) It was interesting the love and respect people have for them. Me and my mate chatted to an old boy who had a couple of yank tanks and he then proceeded to tell us that he has a CV8 and so does his son!! Even the jap boys all came over for a chat and said how much they like a Ro. Just makes me realize what a great decision to buy my Ro was!
I think part of the Monaro's popularity (and the other Holden products) with non-owners (and some owners too no doubt) is partially thanks to its lack of a brand image over here.
As Holden aren't a thing here, then there's no reason to buy one for the image, and then there's also no reason to arbitrarily dislike them because of the image either, they're just a big engined, manual (mostly), rwd car, and pretty much everyone likes those

It looks like my journey could be coming to the end, I’ve seen something else that I’d like to try so a for sale listing will be going up today. I hope she finds a good home..!
I saw this, noooooo!Any hints as to the new hotness that's caught your eye?
Wait a minute, I've just realised there was a red VXR8 with black small boot spoiler down at SRR at the weekend, was that you? It didn't register at the time that it was yours and to come say hello, balls!
