I have a feeling that they are LED lit, and a replacement gauge is needed. However, the light in the replacements had a different intensity, so HSV used to swap them all out under warranty.

I may be wrong, but I think the problem came up for Tattooboy.

That all sounds a PITA & £££

If I knew how to remove it (hopefully easy) I may be able to replce an LED.

Indeed, as ARAF mentioned above, they are sealed units and good old HSV's fix is to redesign the inside so you need to replace all 3. Not sure how much the E1's are, but the E3's are £300 plus fitting.

I was up at Walkinshaw a few weeks back to get these done with a service but HSV sent a set but the box said E3 but the pods inside were E1's !!

Not sure if they still have them as Preciousmetal on here was after a set, might be worth giving them a call as they are ordering some more in.

But yes, prepared to have your trousers pulled down and your butt hole poked about.

If you are prepared to take them out and know a good auto electrician, apparently they are fixable, but I can't be arsed smile

I would replace all three at the same time, so that you get the same colour light across them.

Being some what old fashioned and still living in the 1970's,(which is great by the way) I was under the impression that LED's were supposed to last forever!
My old Hillman Hunter had small bulbs behind the dash, and cost pennies to fix.
Please don't tell me my Monaro also has LED'S instead of bulb's!!

Surface mount LEDs on the cluster.

If anyone wants to send me dim VXR8 gauges I'd take a look on a no blame basis!

As Ian has said ^ . have just had a set in from WP for a customers E1 R8. the whole new pod was £254 + VAT. couldn't be bothered with removing and sending away to then find they cant be done or don't match so bit the bullet. also a SH old set may mess up aswell !!

Thanks for al lthe input.

Not sure what to do yet.

But I'd like to know how to access the instruments. I am hoping it doesn't involve lots of trim removal.

Cheers, Steve

I was advised it is centre mid dash out to get at it.

I've never neded to remove or touch anything around that area. Are there any guides, you tubes or pictures that may help?

I've always been wary of trim removal and replacement, as clips often break and surfaces easily scratch.
