I'm planning to replace my hard fuel lines (evap line looks a little furry in the engine bay and at this point the brakes and clutch are already done...), but not sure of the best approach. It's currently the original line, which goes from the GM push connect type flare, through an adapter to AN for the fuel rails.

Is it best to try to replicate the original flares, or just get rid of the adapter? Am I correct that the feed line is 3/8" and 10mm doesn't really exist as a standard?

Alternatively, is running braided hose from the fuel filter all the way along the car a bad idea? Would it do anything to the pressure seen at the fuel rail given no downstream regulation?

I feel stupid hehe

Benifit of a hard line is it doesn't move or chaff. But no reason why a soft line can't be used. We did this in a veg kit with no issues. Just secure it well. It will be more expensive though.

As to the quick connect it's really just convenient. I have a quick connect to AN converter from my hardline to my rails.

Braided fuel lines 'sweat' fuel and will make your car (and your garage) stink. I'd go for hard lines.

It's not really useful quick connect when it's adapted to AN! wink

FWIW I hate AN fittings, but that's what everyone uses...I'll use hard line where I can, I guess it's just a fiddle at the fuel filter end.

Lucky I don't have a garage then hehe

10mm most certainly does exist...but not with AN sizing as they are all imperial. But then I doubt GM used imperial sizes on the car when everything else is metric, and they do not use AN fittings anywhere.

As for your proposal, draw a schematic or give more detail. And if running any hoses inside the cabin, they must either be suitable hardline or teflon hose otherwise the cabin will stink to fk of petrol.

It still quick connects. Just allows it to bolt up to AN hosing for attaching to my AN rails.
