Potential Purchase - Too many previous owners?

I just love the way most have commented on a car to avoid when no one has even seen it
I didn't realise it was your car the OP was talking about. I was trying to be neutral as it doesn't really bother me Re no of ownersSome people have a hang up over no. owners, some don't
Arent we all missing the point here?
No-one is saying that the car in question has a problem. The OP was simply speculating on the effect that number of owners will have come resale time should HE try to then move it on.
I dont see any suggestion that this car - or any other high owner car - is bad per se - it was simply a question about peoples perceptions when he comes to sell it.

Exactly that, I am not questioning the condition of the car in question nor if it’s been looked after as I can see it’s a mint example with loads of history to back that up (better than most low owner examples).No-one is saying that the car in question has a problem. Until 6 months ago I would have purchased this in a heartbeat, I was not bothered with amount of owners like the majority of you guys but once you get a big financial hit it makes you think twice.
Understand this is the type of car that does get passed around a lot due to the running costs etc and my previous car was the same so with 6 owners I understood that. Loads of history along with FSH and pristine condition made me buy it and forget the owner situation.
It then came around to selling and that’s when the problems occurred, all the history, previous bills, FSH, and condition never mattered to anyone and I couldn’t shift it for market value nor anywhere near that figure.
Eventually I had to reduce the cost a hell of a lot in order to shift the car.
Appreciate the feedback and comments on both sides, it’s made me think.
I think the target market for an Audi is going to be more affected by number of owners than the target market for a Monaro.
If you're putting this much importance on resale value before even test driving the car, your heart needs to shout louder, as your head is winning! Easiest way to drown out what your head is saying is with a V8
Values of these really haven't changed much for years, if it's got 7 owners, then it may be priced slightly lower than a 3 owner car, when you come to sell it, it'll sell for slightly less as an 8 owner car than as a 4 owner car, but you paid less to start with, so it's not going to make much difference.
Obviously if you think you may need to sell it urgently then as James pointed out it may take longer to shift, but you could say the same if you needed to sell it urgently in winter...
Also, I think these are the type of car people do buy to scratch an itch, or to try on a whim and then it turns out it's not for them, so higher owner numbers are maybe more likely?
Go for a drive in one, you'll forget all about it

No...but a car with unknown and unverifiable history with lots of previous owners....huge red flag, if that is the case here.No-one is saying that the car in question has a problem. Car with known and verifiable history, perhaps even with contact to previous owners...zero problem.
