Was there a year when P322 reliability became acceptable? As in, as reliable as a normal car? I'm not expecting perfection but not a constant nag of nigles with the odd expensive failure

I have a budget of £35k to buy a rr, can get a 2012 for that price. Looking at 4.4 tdv8.

I'm seriously put off by reliability stories though but most of what I read on here and other fora seems to concern older higher milage cars.

I'm looking at ones with under 40k miles on and we do about 8k a year. No interest in petrol as the range and consumption make it too annoying.

Was there a year when they sorted these cars out, when tata / jlr made enough investment to fix the niggles? Was the 8 speed zf box solid or do they still lunch themselves?

We've had a 2012 evoque for 18 months and it's solid but is that cos it's an all new model?

I can't be doing with a car that's always developing annoying faults as our other family car is a porsche 997 and it's too much of a squeeze for 4 of us even juat for emergencies!

Hi - had the same question myself and ended up buying a 2012 Supercharged 5.0 V8. Awesome car - no issues so far but have a warranty

I have a friend who is a JLR master tech so asked him what he thought....

- apparently by the end of the production run the RR was pretty solid as they had fixed many of the faults
- points to watch are the air suspension compressor (under the spare tyre in a 'dome') and anything electrical
- a quote... 'if the previous owner was a big chap then the pipes in the seat for the cooling/heating may not work as they get crushed'
- check underneath for any damage from offroading
- on the gearbox mine is the 6 speed as apparently LR were not comfortable using the 8 speed with the power of the petrol motor (not sure why as they have the 8sp in the jag)
- there is a firm that can recondition these, but would check if it has had a new one - not sure on the normal mileage one can expect

No is the simple answer.

We had one of the last L322, in less than 4 years had 5 (Five) starter motors fitted (A known problem at dealers), new climate 'brain', various attempts to get rid of a stutter/misfire at low throttle openings (Again a well known problem), driver and passenger seat pads collapsed, sticking rear brake caliper (Another common fault) as well as a few other things.

Fantastic car, when it is OK, but we could not live with it any longer. Sold at 3yrs 10 months.! Make sure you get a very good warranty if you buy one.

I ran a 4.4 V8 with ran LPG conversion for two years (2005 MY) and it was faultless over 30K miles.
Cracking car.

I'be got a 2010 3.6 TDV8 had it less than 2 years and done 30k miles in it, with at least half of that with a 2.5t trailer behind it, not had any issues at all.
All the people I know that have owned late model cars have all been fine.
Remember the only people who generally post online are ones with problems think of all the cars sold that you never hear about...........

Problem in my case was we had new Range Rovers at least every 4 years since 1993 and this was the least reliable.!
Now have a Porsche Cayenne instead. (But still have the 110 and a Freelander, both of which have been quite good).

Done 10k miles in my 2010 TDV8 and not a single hick-up. The more I drive it the more I just love the car.

We have a tdv8 2008 just coming up to 82000.
Has run very well, two very small faults - a hose on the turbo £70 and a processor on the in car entertainment around £200
One of the most reliable cars we have had.
