Just had my Monaro recovered due to fractured high pressure pipe. Bought an 04 replacement from Monkfish along with the compression
fitting as the 04 has a different entry point on the pump and cannot get one for an 05.
Has anyone had the same problem and if so what was your fix.

Cheers Terry

on another car I repaired a power steering hose high pressure with petrol hose & jubilee clips, by the roadside. Lasted several years after as well
As long as it's a sealed system it doesn't mind what route it takes.

I spotted some corrosion on my 2005 high pressure pipe so before it blew I had it repaired by Pirtek who cut out the bad section and replaced it with hydaulic hose, this was ok to keep the car mobile but I wasn't happy with it ( lots of hydraulic noise and the weight of the steering didn't seem right)
So I ordered a replacement from oz (google "HPS088") and fitted it and everything was spot on again.

I would be amazed if that is true. It was probably the low pressure side.

The high pressure side can run in excess of 1000psi. No regular fuel hose or jubilee clips is ever going to hold that, and it would be insane to try given how flammable PAS fluid is.

Mine went recently on my 6.0 VXR. As has been said it runs at some obscene pressure so you won't be able to patch it. Mine went on the bend before the flex pipe and sprayed onto the fan, which promptly distributed PAS fluid all over the engine bay. Smoky!

From a recommendation on here I bought one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIte...

Fits perfectly and arrived within a week. I sprayed mine with Bilt Hamber Electrox and anti-stonechip to stop it rusting again.

I did mine as I knew it would go sooner or later. Not too expensive from MF:

Mine on an 04 design unclamped and made a right mess

New hose is just easier and more sure of surviving for longer.

you're probably right, Stevie - it was one of the hoses coming from the rack itself.
all I remember is a couple of hours under the car at a filling station about to close, on the way to Cornwall, 11.00 at night, buying every AA battery in the garage to keep my torch going while I tried to fix it!
