Tyres for the Monaro (not winter)

Plenty of choice given here, but the op hasn't said what they are looking for in a tyre.
From here down your looking at cheaper options that will not give the same grip level, such as kumho and the (frankly appalling by comparison Ime) Falkens which WILL amplify the Monaro tendency to pull off line on road imperfections. (Tram line) something which will never be evident to the driver on mpss or mps4 if the car is set up correctly..
Can't argue with that as it goes, car has pulled like a basard since fitting the FalkensFrom here down your looking at cheaper options that will not give the same grip level, such as kumho and the (frankly appalling by comparison Ime) Falkens which WILL amplify the Monaro tendency to pull off line on road imperfections. Although not a Monaro tyre; this is what happened TWICE to the KU39's on the rear of my VXR8.
First tyre split after a few months use (in photo) and was finally replaced after inspection - which took two months. 100% refund given.
A second replacement did exactly the same in less than a month from being fitted. Both were brand new tyres I might add.
On the 20th of Nov it'll be two months since that second tyre was sent for inspection. Chased it the other day and the local dealer just gave me a call to say it's being sent somewhere else for inspection. Very slow responses when it's clearly a quality issue. Not impressed by the service of Protyre or Kumho TBH...
It's supposedly where the strip of rubber that makes the outer of the tyre hasn't vulcanised properly during manufacture. This is what a technical dept. person at Kumho told me. He believes it would be solidly attached to the inner casing but would you want to find out at motorway or Autobahn speeds. I wouldn't.

Interestingly ive just swapped wheels from stock CV8 with budget tyres to VXR relicas with Pirelli P zero Rosso tyres and noticed an increase in tramlining on the way home. My preferred choice of tyre is and always will be Michelin Pilot sport 3 onwards
I can't stand Pirelli's and won't use 'em. Had some on a second hand pair of VXR wheels I bought and found they took ages to warm up and I had the tail sliding all over the place, went back to Kumhos and had no trouble, also went up to 255 section tyre on the rear for more grip as I'm well over standard power output Edited by Aitch 'H' on Sunday 20th November 16:14
In my limited experience the MPSS are excellent.
I've only experienced P Zero Rossos on the front, but they were on when I got it and so part worn and I was unfamiliar with the car. As such changing to brand new MPSS was obviously night and day...
On the rear it's always had MPSS. I tried some Avon ZZ3s and it was absolutely horrible. Grip seemed OK, but the sidewall wallowed about all over the place and it made the car horrible to drive. Tried all kinds of tyre pressures etc. Sold them on after 500 miles (to give them a chance to 'wear in').
Having said that though, I sold them to a CV8 owner on here who'd always had them and was very pleased with them, so who knows.
The MPSS are excellent though, almost make it a little dull the amount of rear grip it has when they're new. I also find they wear very well and stay very predictable as they approach replacement time, no sudden drop off in performance.
They're grippier when warm of course, and tend to smoke much better when warm too
