As my vxr8 has been stood for a few years the brakes are cream crackerd, rather than just replace I have been looking at the big brake kits avaliable. Just wondered if anyone knows why the wortec packages are so much more than the walkinshaw kit? The walkinshaw kit offers 380mm discs up front and 6 pot pistons with 4 pots for the rear, including braided hoses this is only c.250 quid more than the 360mm wortec fronts alone. Big difference on quality or stopping power? Cheers

We have Wortecs and they are much more corrosion resistant.

Walkinshaw Kit is two piece front rotors/bells and one piece rear, calipers are also lug mounted.

Wortec Kit uses two piece front and rear rotors/bells,calipers are radial mounted meaning that it also requires mounting brackets. That will be why it's more expensive, it has more component parts.

The AP kit that I'm making will use two piece front & rear rotors/bells and will accommodate the largest rotor that can fit in the standard 19" wheel.

If you have a spare wheel...also consider what brakes this might fit over.

If you're considering the WP big brake kit, I happen to know that they have a second hand kit in stock at the moment which has seen very little use.
