Hey guys.

Jst returned from working away from home for nearly a month and can't get into my cv8. I must of deadlocked it last time I locked it up. Using the key doesn't seem to be working.
I do remember someone on here years ago saying something about if it's deadlocked you need to turn the key that hard it'll almost feel like your about to break it.
Didn't really want to risk that just incase. So thought I'd ask you guys.
Obviously I could phone green flag but there's always some real helpfull people on here so thought I'd ask first.
Thanks.

I recently had the same issue with my VZ SV6 (poor replacement for my Monaro frown )

I followed the advice to turn it so hard you think it will break... and it broke mad

I would love to insert the broken piece into whoever signed off on a car that you can't get into when the battery is flat!

I ended up breaking the door handle out of the door so I could unlock it, then had to pay for a new key to start it.

I had thought of fitting a fused wire from the battery, capped, and secured under the front valence, so if necessary, a charger could be connected to enable unlocking of the car if the battery is dead...

I did read that earlier yesterday. Someone had done it on one of the older Commodores. I was looking for very much more simples solutions lol rofl

Can't believe your key snapped tho. That's Sod's law. Sounds like that turned out a proper nuisance.

If it's a big boot. Go in through the boot. Punch out the centre arm. The clip often won't break. If it does it's not expensive.

The issue is the for is normally deadlocked from the fob so you have to force the lock past it's clip. It's a bad design. Also I fine lubricating the boot and door and locking/unlocking a few times a year helps.

How do you get in the boot when the battery is flat?

First get the drivers door to open, then lift bonnet, charge battery or fit new, open boot with fob as usual. Simplesclap

Are you sure? I thought there was a yellow lever hidden between two of the cushions of the back seats that mechanically opens the boot from inside the cabin when the battery is flat.

I think we're talking about external locks.

Ahh, right.

But I suppose if the battery was completely dead and you needed to get into the boot, you'd use the key to manually open the drivers door, climb into the back and then be able to manually open the boot.

haha and the circle is complete! You can't open the door with the key if the battery is flat and it is deadlocked. There are no options, you have to break something to get in. Thanks for nothing Holden, as usual Aussies thinking they can do better than the developed world and screwing it up!

Well the answer to all of these problems is follow what I said earlier, and some of you already had done the same.
