Hi all,
Following the standard 4 year old battery hits winter and won't hold a charge issue, I replaced it with a Bosh 5 year guarantee option from Tayna and that seemed okay for the first month or so (warmer weather) however it's now suffering from exactly the same issue and drops from 12v to 10.5 - 11v after one or two days and sometimes requires a jumpstart especially when very cold outside. The alternator that’s recently been replaced seems okay as its 14.3v when started and it will restart after just a few miles of driving.

I have sent the battery back for testing and it’s looking like they are saying it just needed charging however....

@ Is this a standard claim from a battery supplier (Tayna)?
@ Do Monaro's have any known battery drain issues sticking relays, etc. (I haven’t changed anything electrical)?
@ Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks in advance ... Paul

Really you're blaming the battery...but you need to prove without doubt there is no drain from the car. In which case any new battery will do the same.

You need to find the cause of the problem first...and also ensure the battery is being charged all the time whilst driving and there isnt perhaps an intermittent issue there. Although that is less likely.

I had the original battery replaced on my Monaro after 8 years of use, however it was totally finished by then! Monaros do not normally drain batteries. I would get all the electrics checked on your car just in case you have a bad earth of faulty component somewhere.
If you have an after market alarm system fitted, that's where I would start.

Thanks for the responses thus far..

Steve,
It looked like the battery to me as they all seem to have the same issue in the cold (kept outside) after about 4 years, but I take your point as the new one is showing the same issues as the old.
I thought the battery is being charged all the time as it re-charges so quick, is always showing 13 - 14v on the dash and the lights are so bright then started and once the alternator kicks in.

John,
No after market alarm and removed chargers, and Bluetooth attachment etc.

Keep any ideas coming..

IIRC, some claim leaving the lights in auto can cause a drain - sounds like bad design if true.

Mine gets fairly terrible battery life when its sat. I've just replaced the battery and this time i've given up and it'll just sit plugged into the my ctek charger when its not in use, hopefully that'll solve the problem. I expect the old Bosch battery is still in warranty but assuming I need the receipt or something to claim on it that sounds unlikely to happen.
