My passenger door actuator is a bit iffy, it does not always reliably unlock the door.

Its been suggested that is a common problem and hence there are few (i.e none maybe) second hand ones and the new part was about £135 IIRC.

I assume that it or assoicated mechanism gets dirty and harder to operate. has anyone sucessfully repaired these?

Thanks, Steve

How sure are you that the second hand one will actually work anyway? Just bite the bullet.

If you search, I am sure that there was a thread where someone took things apart to fix that very issue. It had pictures and everything iirc

I still have 2 new actuators for rear doors (with Monkfish receipt)

Both of mine woutdoor fail to actuate occasionally leaving the car unlocked - I got into the routine of checking before I walked away. I never got round to fitting these before I sold it.

If it's anything like the petrol cap solenoid then it's made by Valeo anyway. Get the old one out and do a search on the manufacturer's part number. You may find them cheaper than through Vx etc.

Thank you Jon,

I will follow your guide and add lubrication.

I have a reluctance to remove trim and I have generally found it hard to replace well.

I know what you mean about the trim, but the door cards are easy

I took a monaro one apart and replaced the micro switches for a couple of quid
I had previously tried lubricating it but it didn't last long then found out about the micro switch problem and it's been good ever since

Do you still have these? I'm after rear passenger side
