Didn't expect to see a split airbox like the 2010 Mercedes and 2011 Lotus again!

I think the 2017 cars are going to look good, but they aren't as edgy as i thought they were getting hyped up to be.

... Sauber sill very short of sponsors also!

Very short?

Completely devoid more like!

Glad they stuck with blue and gold/yellow to make them a bit more distinctive but I hope it's not another potential team against the wall!

Also shouldn't we be in this thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

This looks incredible IMO, loving the livery - looks like a Ligier crossed with a Rothmans Williams. I also like that they've done the sharkfin in black, won't be to everyone's tastes but i really like it.

Also some really agressive aero on show here. If this is what one of the poorest teams have come up with, I can't wait to see the rest throughout this week!!

The only thing is...it just doesn't look as wide as i was hoping - the nosecones are wider these days compared to the last time cars had a 2000mm track, and with the superwide front tyres, the front forks aren't nearly as long as the cars of the early '90s which I think was a major factor in those cars looking so low and wide to your eye.

The front tyres ruin the look of the new rule cars. they should have got the front to rear proportions the same as the pre 1993 cars.

That looks good to me, better than the Williams rendering.

The sidepod intakes look quite big, actually the entire sidepod looks quite big compared to the Williams. I wonder if its a sign of using older technology with the 2016 Ferrari engine or a conservative design, do Sauber know they will be slow anyway so are making sure they will be reliable and hope to pick up points as a result.

Let me buy you a drink, I don't know why the sport has so much trouble with this kind of thing. Plus the narrow track from 95 has never been put back to the older wider track. I think the angled rear wing look stupid and is change for changes sake. Sport is run by idiots.

How come the fin has made a return, thought they were banned, hope it's for show, think they look horrible but the car looks great otherwise

Well the livery is an improvement (Which isn't difficult!) but it's a shame it also has a little thumb nose like the Williams, they look ridiculous.

Not really feeling the love for the new cars at the mo' too much aero bits getting added on again. We'll be back at the god awful 2008 looking cars before we know it.

That Sauber colour scheme isn't doing it for me either, I do like the Martini colours on the Williams, but I think we are in for another year of boring races and the changes they've brought in aren't helping in the long term.

Mind you, it seems to me that F1 thinks long term is 2-3 years and let's change things all over again. For me long term needs to be 6-8 years, short term is 2-3 years. The amount being spent is crazy so to stabilize the rules for longer would (to me) make more sense.

Yes here's an idea, let's reintroduce two of the most hated design features of recent years, the probiscus nose, and the shark fin, at a time when the sport is having a few problems, hmmmm.

Gotta say, I think that looks pretty sharp. Love the glossier blue, much better than what they had.

Looking forward to the rest.
